a Fake identity by doctor ? crime fiction

Place - Madalan city hospital . A car stops at staff car parking. A person comes out of the car with a briefcase and proceeds towards the hospital . Once entered inside many staffs and others greet him as Good morning Dr.. While returning good morning to them he proceeds towards the first floor towards his cabin. He now enters his cabin . On the door of his cabin it says Dr Ed Middleton , MBBS ( surgery).

A strecher moves with a patient lying down towards the operation Theater ( OT) . Inside the OT , a nurse gives one injection to the operating-waiting patient. Outside the OT , senior doctor Dr Li seems to discussing something with a staff of the hospital , suddenly one person comes from inside the OT and tells to Dr Li - OT is ready, dr. Can we proceed ?

Yes , lets go . Dr li says.

Inside OT

Dr Li - While wearing the operating gown , asks a intern called Chris , " Chris , today is your last day of internship , right ?

Chris- Ya , doc.

Chris , congrats man . says Dr Ed from behind while entering the OT.

Dr Li - Oh ya Chris, you getting married , right . Ya doctor - Chris replied. That is why i am going back to my city. Now i will be back after 1 month only.

That's great man , congratulation . Said - Dr Li.
Hey Chris , " Did you get any posting somewhere ? - Asks Dr Ed .

Chris - No , doctor Ed , nothing has been confirmed yet . But still i have applied 4 to 5 places . Hope something good comes up.

Dr Li - Chris , we can arrange something for you here , but first you finish your marriage and honeymoon and then we will see .
Thank you so much Dr Li , - says Chris.

Then the operation started. when it finished Dr Li ask Dr Ed - Ed , please finish the stiches. Chris clean the blood flow properly after that. Yes doctor,- replied both. Dr li departs from the OT. Both finished their procedures and left the OT.

Chris is walking towards Dr Ed's cabin. He enters the cabin and fins Dr Ed in phone conversation with a patient's relatives. Dr Ed see Chris and finish the phone conversation , then asks Chris - Hey Chris , how are you ? tell me , how can i help you ?

Nothing really doctor , Chris said. further - i was leaving . So thought of seeing you and say thanks for all the support you have given me.

Dr Ed - oh , that's nothing man . Anytime you need me , just ask . Enjoy your marriage and have fun in the honeymoon.
Chris- Thanks doctor Ed .

Don't call me Dr Ed , call me just Ed , by the way you can call me Jeff , everyone here call me by my nickname . That is Jeff, you can call me like that. - Said Dr Ed
Chris- Oh ok , that is nice Dr Ed , uffs Ed , oh sorry , Jeff. It was pleasure working with you.
Dr Ed- No problem , my pleasure too. take care

Both left . Dr Ed called his girlfriend Alisha who herself is another doctor in a different hospital . Hey sweetheart , what you doing?
Dr Alisha- Oh just came back from one operation . Got a headache , but will be alright once i have a coffee. You please take care darling, -said Dr Ed . Now listen , i have bought few tickets for tonight movie. ok .. he added further
Ok , then i will see you after work. pick me up at 6pm. - Said Dr Alisha.

Time goes , now the office work has finished . people are leaving . Dr Ed finished his work and drives . Alisha is waiting outside her hospital , she saw Dr Ed arrives , enters the car and sat in the front seat , sighing. Dr Ed smile at her and says - alright baby , listen First we will go to dinner and then to a movie. Everything has been arranged.

Not today Ed , i am so tired . - said Alisha. Dr Ted- But we have decided before to go . Yes , i know . But suddenly there is a meeting fixed at tomorrow morning for a operation , so cant go tonight. Sorry , lets go in the weekend , pls baby. Dr Ed makes big face and drives towards home.

Now different place, Dr Chris 's hometown. Someone enters a clinic. It is an ENT clinic. Outside the doctor's cabin the name plate says Dr Ed Middleton , MBBS . Inside Dr is looking at someone's ear and wrote some prescription. Dr Chris enters the cabin , says - Good after Dr Ed. Good afternoon , Dr Chris.. what a surprise ! You have come here after long time . In 6 months no contacts , no phone , no emails ? How are you ? Asked Dr Ed.

I am sorry Dr , was too busy during internship..- said Chris.
Dr Ed- I know i know. By the way how was your inernship in Madalan city hospital ? Was it good ?
Yes , it was great , thanks to support of many doctors there. said Chris.
Dr Ed- great then , ya only luck few get the internship in that hospital. So tell me anything new is happening in your life ?
Dr Chris- I am getting married .
Dr Ed- lovely then , congratulation . Don't forget to invite me boy , i will come for sure no matter how busy i would be.
Dr Chris, ' sure Dr , actually i don't have invitation card with me yet ,it is on 19th of july. Great man , happy for you .- said Dr Ed. and said further- so tell me how was the life in Madalan city hospital ? was it great ? something interesting ?

Dr Chris , " everyday it was so much fun to work there . so many things happens there . Also so many great doctors . Actually there is one this doctor who have same name like. Dr Ed Middleton.
Dr Ed - Oh that's interesting . I hope he is not my twin. Both laugh loud. No , no sir, just the name is similar. said Dr Chris.

Then Dr Chris got up to leave , before leaving said - By the way Dr , can i have your home address please ? Once i get my invitation card printed , i will come to your place to give. Sure , here it is, said Dr Ed while giving the card. Dr Chris took the card and left the cabin.

While going towards the exit door , he wanted to put the card in his wallet , then suddenly something caught his eyes. He suddenly read something on the visiting card of Dr Ed with complete focus. The name says Dr Ed Albert Middleton. He suddenly thought something and without knowing he sat down in seat. Thinking about that for a while. Then he got up and goes to reception and ask to see Dr Ed again . He goes inside .

Dr Ed - you back ? Have you forgotten something here ? any key or anything ? No dr , but i have something to tell you - said Chris.
Dr Ed asks - what is it ?
Dr Chris. - In the madalan city hospital about the same name Dr i was talking about he also have same middle name like yours.
Dr Ed - Eh , how it is possible ? you sure ?
No way , no way ! said Dr Chris while looking at something on the wall behind the chair of Dr Ed. He was looking at laminated degree certificate from Dr Ed which was hanging on the wall. " How it is possible , same name , same college ?
Dr Ed :- now you will say it got same batch as well ?
Dr Chris - I don't know dr , i have not given attention that much. Actually i didnt know his full name , one day i wanted to talk to him . so i checked madalan city hospital telephone directory to call , but could not find the name of Jeff. That name he once asked me to call him as.
Jeff ? Dr Ed suddenly went deep inside a thought. Suddenly he remembers that there was a friend in his 4th year of medical college in the name of Jeff, who was not at all interested at studying. He said i know one Jeff , he used to be my classmate in my college. But how can it be possible ? He was shocked.

Could it be him , the same your friend Jeff, Dr Ed ? Also he might be using your same certificate ? I dont understand now myself aswell. - Chris said
Dr Ed , after thinking for a while said - thanks for letting me know. Now let me see what i can do about it? Chris left.

That same night , Dr Ed was walking norvously inside home. He suddenly called one of his friend, Dr martin. Martin picked up the phone and said ," hey my drear friend ed, whats up man ? How are you ?

Dr Ed - Martin , i want to ask you something. Do you remember Jeff ?
Jeff ? hmmm , oh yeh Jeff , i remember him . our college friend Jeff. why, what happened ? Is he alright?
Ya , he is alright . do you have any of our group photo with him ? asked Dr Ed.
Dr Martin - Ya man , i have .
Dr Ed - can you kindly scan that now and send me by email please ?
Now , it is too late , and i have not had dinner yet. said Martin.
Please martin , please , it is urgent . I will tell you everything later. said - Dr Ed.

Ok ok , no problem . I am doing it straightway . Then he hanged up the phone and scanned the copy and sent it.
Meanwhile at dr Ed's home , he was sitting and thinking about his time with Jeff. thinking that is he the one who might have faked my identity to do this ?

Whats going on ? asked his wife from behind. You ok Ed , can you please tell me why are you so much tensed today ?
Dr Ed explained whole details to his wife. his wife said - may be he became doctor afterwards . You might be getting worried without any bases.
No , it is not possible . said Dr Ed. He was rusticated from the college on the 4th term for failing the exam. And once you get rusticated , no other college will take you in. one sec , let me talk to my brother.

He calls his brother Henry and tell him exactly same thing and asked him to investigate if it is true. His brother said ok , let me find out tommorow. His brother went to Madalan city hospital next day and went first Dr Ed's cabin . Dr ,Dr Ed , i need your help. can i ask you to do operation for my patients heart surgery.

Dr Ed- I think you have come here mistakenly , i am not a heart surgern , please go and see Dr Harry. Oh sorry , then it was my mstake, said Henry while talking to dr , he was actualy recording all the things , and while pretending to go out , he also took video of the hanging certificate of Dr Ed.
He left the cabin and forwarded the videos to his brother Dr Ed .

Meanwhile in his home , Dr Ed was busy googling Madalan hospital doctor's list , suddenly a mail came which he printed out the picture of group he has asked martin a while ago. The he got the sms from Henry . when he saw the video , he said to Henry ," yes henry this is Jeff, my classmate. That is him .

Henry- There is a girl also in that picure, who i saw with Jeff , Alisha , she is a doctor and practicing in a nearby hospital.
Dr Ed . ok . now it is time to go to police.

Dr Ed went to police with all the evidence . Police said ," great , lets go and catch that fraud doctor. But Dr Ed , you will go there first , we will come behind. ok - said dr Ed.

Now it is madalan city hospital. Dr Ed alongwith Henry are going towards the cabin of Dr Ed ( Jeff) . They know on the door and ask for the permission to enter. Please come , said Dr Ed ( Jeff ) without looking at them .

Hallo Dr Ed alias Jeff , how are you man ? Ask Dr Ed.
Hearing the voice , which was familiar , suddenly Jeff looked at Dr Ed and shocked. He said ," Ed , you here ? please let me explain everything, he said halfheartedly while trembling with shock.

"Of course you will explain Jeff. But First you have to explain to this city hospital , then to the medical council , then to the police and to the judge. After that might be to me as well . You need to do lots of explanation. " said Dr Ed.

Then police enters the cabin . Detective Robbin says ,- You are under arrest Jeff , for cheating and fraud charges.
Jeff - pleading with Dr Ed , please Ed , listen to me , i can explain to you everything. Please dont do this. Dr Ed kept quite, and police whisked him away handcuffing , whole hospital was watching in shock.

Inside prison , detective Robbin asked him , why did you do this ? how did you do this ? No matter how many times he asked , Jeff didnt reply anything. After 48 hours he finally started speaking.

Jeff said , " i met Ed on the last day of his hostel stay . when i entered his room , i saw he was arranging all his papers. i entered and asked what he was doing ? Ed told me that he was applying for 4 to 5 internship , so making sure all the papers are in correct order. suddenly some papers fell on the floor , one of the certificate went further under a cupboard , which ed didnt see. When ed left , i took that certificate. scanned it , made a new fake but original looking certificate. "

Detective Robbin - But how come you got in that hospital only with that certificate ? we already have searched your home and found fake birth certificate , fake passport etc.
Jeff , " Ya , i made it all . I have made all the documents which will help me in getting the job in the name of Dr Ed Albert Middleton.

Meanwhile at the Madalan Hospital , there was a urgent meeting betweet top doctors. Everyone was shocked to find out about Jeff. Dr li said- i cant even imagine what just happened? He has been doing operation under me for last 6 years , and i still couldnot find out ? In my entire career i have never ever been cheated like this?

The dean of the hospital also was shocked and said ," i cant believe that we hired him for such a long time without finding out his real identity. How this grave mistake happend on our part ? We should do a through investigation in to this matter and make sure it will never ever happen again.
Even medical council was also shocked to know that , they even got fooled by this. The whole license issue thing was under scrutiny again.

Few days passes by , at Dr Ed 's home , Chris is having a tea with them .
Chris - It was shocking to find out this . Actually me and Jeff became close friends lately . I cant believe he has done this to you Dr Ed. He seemed such a nice and talented person.

Dr Ed , " yes , he was a talented person , but i wish he had used his talent to study hard to finish his medical papers. He used his talent for wrong thing. By the way thanks a lot Chris, due to your efforts we were able to find out. Also give our thanks to your spouse as well.

Why Dr Ed ? why thanking her ? ask Chris.
Well , if you were not getting married to her , then you would not have come to me and ask for my home address , for which i gave you my visiting card . And the rest story you know .

Both laughed. ....end of story

Where do you think the hospital and the medical council did mistake ? How come they did not check the certificate properly ?
Jeff must have done 1000s of operation in those 6 years , there must be so many countless mistakes might have happened in during surgery , could be some are fatal ones . So who is responsible for that ?

Jeff or the hospital or medical council ?

I am sure , there must be many doctors around without any authenticate certificate but practicing , playing with our lives. What are your thoughts on this ?
