Why I will not Upvote a Post with Just a Bunch of Photos

Or a post full of HD photos that take a while to load, only to find out that there's too little text in there. I'm not against photography and I do believe that a photo is worth a thousand words, but I'd rather upvote a post with some text in it. Take note though, this is my own preference, and I am just explaining here my own reasons.

For me, it is too easy to just buy an expensive or inexpensive camera and just post a bunch of photos here. I don't think it's laziness, but I just prefer to value someone who puts more time and effort in a post. Believe me, I know how it feels when your eyes grow tired after 2-3 hours of staring at the screen, or when your right shoulder aches and your back breaks. Perhaps, I need to afford the best ergonomic chair, ha! But nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing my finished masterpiece.

I'm also using my own photos to color my stories as I don't have that imagery skill in my writing yet. Photos may kill the prose of a fiction writer but it might liven the work of an essayist. These photos enable the precision of the journalist and inspire a poet as well. But still, you will never see me just post a bunch of photos here, I think there's Instagram and other social media platform for that.

I'm following some talented fiction writers and essayists here who deserve some appreciation by those who don't have short attention span. They are actually writing just because it makes them "better, freer, calmer" - @cupidzero. But sometimes I don't want to look into my feed anymore just to see just another bunch of photographs being valued more. Now, without a feature here yet to exclude those posts I do not want to see, I just created an external feed so I don't miss out on those articles that deserve my upvote more.

I will upvote art and designs - 3D, digital art, photo manipulation, and drawings, especially if there's a story behind it. It takes a very creative and talented artist to do this, and of course, I've seen more posts like this undervalued.

Some other type of posts that I usually upvote, original music / openmic, true stories, poetry, thought-provoking essays, travel memoirs and other creative writing.

I do not believe anymore in the reward system here because apparently, it does not make any sense. It doesn't do justice to a work of art. However, when I invested in steem power in the future, I will make sure that those who deserve to be upvoted will be upvoted. The 11 upvotes a day is not just enough though.

Within 60 days of being here on steemit, I've seen what's going on behind here somewhat, so I don't really care anymore about the issues and other steemit matters. I found myself having little time but having more words and stories to write about. And I'm happy enough to have an undying appreciation.

Before following me, please check my previous posts. I usually write about my travels or whatever my distorted mind has to offer. If you follow me and you're not really interested with that, then you'll only be disappointed! Unfollow @diabolika 😈

I totally agree with you @diabolika. Before I post, I have to make my design first which can take days.... and then I can post about it(with many detailed steps). I do see posts that make more than 50$ that only shows a few stunning pictures, some only
with their butt :-D. But I choose not to follow the crowd/imitate them. I prefer to stay original.

That's very nice. I admire those who take their art / craft seriously, oh well that's why it's art.

Thanks for dropping by!

Hey Diabolika!
I had the same thoughts... it's Lucas writing... I'm doing all the "Steemitri The Mannequin" stuff with my wife Diana... my english is kind of bad, but I love to create stories, and mannequin stories, haha... fortunately Diana does some proofreading and some translations. So, yes, we are doing a lot of hard work here, photos, and writing... and we really like Steemit :-)
I have doubts about the reward system, and not only that (see also copyright infringement on DTube)... but I know, Steemit is still beta... and nobody knows the future of social media and blockchain.
So let's see what happens in the next months, years...
Big hug
Lucas

Thank you Lucas! No problem with your English, it will improve if you keep writing. :)

Just nevermind the rewards for now, and just focus on the other benefits of steemit, such as learning and being able to share our stories and ideas.

I love support other artists on this platform as well! Yes we need to get bigger faster so we can showcase other people that deserve it! :)
