The mind of a Death man: Episode 2

in #writing2 years ago (edited)

Hello friends, I trust your day s going well. This is a continuation of the story I shared two days ago.

It was then I knew why my grandmother always chase away some acquaintances from the neighborhood, she didn’t allow me to get close to them.

I’ve heard stories of my mother’s death and how she had an unending love for her child and the much suffering she passed through during labor and the sleepless night when the child is sick and how hard she tries to put a smile on her child’s face bathing the child, going for the child’s medical checkups.

Well, my stubborn mother went through all these for me, the more reason why I felt pained when she died as I was just 5 years, about 17years ago. I wept bitterly as my grandmother doses off, it was already 9:49 pm, so I helped adjust her head to lie well on her bed and I heads to my room.

On that night when life seemed at peace and living felt worth it after I watched “Ride Along” a Hollywood Comedy movie by popular actor Kevin Hart, I heard some sounds from my grandmother’s house, so I rushed down there to see what is going on, only to see my grandmother rolling on the bed.

Oh no, it was her ulcer again, I sigh and proceeded to open her cupboard to get her medication, but before I could turn to her again, she gave up the ghost.

This is not a movie, grandma stops the joke already, you can’t leave me here alone I cried out loud! I was shattered, it was a black Friday.

When It was already dawn and my eyes were still heavy, I kept staring at my dead grandmum as she was lying down helpless, I was only 21 then. I had access to grandma’s savings, I got some money to deposit her corpse into a mortuary.

I made a promise to my grandmum never to be like my mother, which means I have to work my ass out to take care of myself and stay clean even in the street.

2years after my grandmum is dead, I moved to an island as our rent was due and I can’t afford to renew it.

It was a new way of life for me, I had to get used to my new environment and the lifestyle, you know what they say? “It’s a hard knock life”, and this is me trying to wear that color.

Here can be termed a high-rank ghetto where all sort of vices is practiced, starting from consuming a high volume of marijuana to cocaine, mini clubs where whores shake their ass to make a few dollars, robbery wasn’t out of the picture it was a tough hood, but affordable for me and I have to do whatever it takes to fit in but I need to remember grandma’s words “you see, life can be so unpredictable, when we thought we’ve arrived, that’s actually when we just started and when we thought we know it all, then we are just fooling ourselves. Like I use to tell you, we don’t know it all, trust me, honey” .

After spending like 4 months here and getting used to the daily hustling one event change my life , my orientation, what was that?

At about 2 am Tuesday early morning some gang well-armed entered my apartment and robbed me, I was terrified, they threatened to kill me if I raise any alarm.

I had no option but to remain calm and swear in my heart that I’m going to revenge and get to whoever is involved in this, at that moment the whole bitter memory of how my mother’s life was taken away in a violent way came into play.

Stay tuned for the next episode......
