Wow...sick post dude.

I think as we become more aware in life, we realize that there really is no reason to kill another living thing.

I think much of buddism has to do with allowing life to be the way it is, as does meditation.

In fact thats exactly what meditation is about.

It is kind of egotistical when you look at it as if they are sentient life kind of like us.
Although they may not be able to think; they are still very much alive.

Very good post but I think you could have expanded upon it alot more. At the same time I liked that it was short so I could read it quickly.

Its definately worth disscussing: are you a dictator or are you defending your home?

What actual threat do they really carry out?

I guess they could steal your food if you left it out, but perhaps that would just push you not to leave food out.

If you really do feel bad about it, I would say explore your feeliungs deeper and see if you can get away with not killing them.

On a side not, I just wrote this post about ego and Id love to know what you think about it.

Most people think of the so-called "Ego" as a separate part of them.
Inevitably everyone functions as a whole.
That's why I try to look at the ego as nothing that should be tempered with if a person looks at it as it was a separate segment of himself.

Rather tan looking at it as something negative, you should know that it is something we can never truly get rid of.
Tho the only things we can get rid of are segments or imperfections of the ego, that have formed over the years.
