YES! Good use of synonyms is critical to good writing!
So many times people repeat the same word 100 times causing semantic satiation
and the word they're using starts to lose meaning, for a time.
TIMETIMETIME - repeating the same word is bad!

By the way, having 5 novels is quite impressive ^_^
