In Detroit, the Civil Rights Movements was a great time in the Art World for African American writers, who were writing poetry reflecting the complex issues in African American political and cultural life, from World War 1 to the 21st century. Excellent creative writings in many forms were written: "revolutionary manifestos, humorist toast, love songs and yearning for freedom,"- from Dr.Gloria House text in the Detroit Public Library 2015 African American Booklist, Legacy of Dudley Randall is referenced linking to a beautiful PDF on Broadside Lotus Press on Wikipedia
