Steemit Challenge s28wk1 : Zany and the tiny colored dragon
Hello..!!
My Dear Friends,
I am @tanvirahammad10 from #Bangladesh 🇧🇩
The rain had stopped all afternoon, but the city was still wet, gray, and weighed down by a strange loneliness. Standing at the end of the lightless street, the teenage girl Jeannie pulled her hood tighter. The cold, like an arrow from the wind, was touching her but that coldness could not touch the loneliness inside her. The sadness inside seemed heavier, more solid. Her feet suddenly stopped. Someone seemed to be weaving colors in the fog, no, no one… something. Jeannie's eyes widened in surprise. Across the wet asphalt, right next to the small pond by the side of the road, a tiny dragon was flying, emitting a fine light. Its body seemed to be woven with rainbow particles, and its wings were drawing soft shadows like a brush on the fog. Zany's throat went dry. She had heard in stories that human emotions roamed like animals in this city. Some see sadness as a blue wolf, some see anger as a red tiger. But a small colored dragon? People say that they only come to those who have not lost their light inside. But Zany had learned to think of herself as lightless a long time ago.
The dragon slowly floated towards her. Zany held her breath, watching as its wings touched her wet Zany, as if the color itself was spreading across the dark walls of the city. She felt the silence around her now throbbing. Again. She extended her finger with a trembling hand. As the dragon sat on her finger, the heavy sadness deep in Zany's chest loosened a little. As if someone had cut an old rope tied to her chest. She laughed after so long, a small, weak, yet genuine laugh. She said in a low voice, "You... joy?" The dragon moved its wings in a soft voice, as if to say, "Yes... but you forgot my name." Zany was shocked. Name? Do you have a name? The dragon nuzzled her cheek and said, I was once yours. You used to draw me when you were a child, remember? The colorful little dragon, who lit up the darkness? You forgot me as you grew up. That's why I was lost. Zany's throat got stuck. Blurry memories flashed in her head, a smiling little girl, who used to draw colorful dragons in the corners of her notebooks. Then time taught her to just forget. She whispered, I thought... I couldn't keep the light on anymore. The dragon said, no one loses the light. Sometimes the darkness just holds it in a little too much. The streetlights were slowly lighting up then. In the dim light of the evening, the two of them, a girl and her lost feelings, started walking together on the street.
They walked down alley after alley. Sometimes the dragon rose into the sky and spread light, sometimes it sat on her shoulder. Sometimes he hummed a sweet classical tune, and Zany's old troubles fell like wet flower petals on the ground. Jenny asked, "Have you always been there?" The dragon smiled, "When you were crying alone, I was sitting next to you. But you couldn't see me. It's not because the rain stopped today, today you wanted me, so I appeared. I am true to you. You were drawing me with your inner talent. You wanted to draw me like yourself. That's why I came in this form. This is the result of the talent hidden inside you. You learn to believe in yourself. You will see, you will get more. As soon as you remember me, you will see your talent. But don't forget me, I believe you can." Tears came to Jenny's eyes. "Can I?" The dragon touched her forehead. As long as you don't forget yourself, I will never lose you. Then a strange light spread and in a moment the dragon slowly disappeared, the colors melted in the air and rose into the sky and ran towards the moon.
Zany stood, but something inside her had changed. A soft warmth inside, as if her lost light had been rekindled somewhere. The last scene, yet not the end. As she placed her hand on the railing of the bridge, Zany noticed that a drop of burnt color remained on her finger. The color of a dragon. She smiled. A long-forgotten, confident smile. And somewhere far, far away in the city. The delicate colored light shimmered in the fog, just as the wings of the little dragon had. But her journey of light had only just begun.
