"Steemit Challenge s28wk2 : Remembering Through Healing
Everyday continued as usual, scrubbing tiles, running errands cleaning, hut at night, Tina could still feel that silence and she knew she was missing her mother so much.
Everyday she felt empty inside, memories clung to her, the times when they had heated arguments, and how she sometimes wished her mother disappeared but now she felt lost and empty.
Waking up one morning she noticed something, the way the sunlight shone through her window onto the tiles of her room, making shapes and drawings that looked like the ones her mom usually hung on the fridge, she smiled softly.
Slowly, she began to feel her mother's presence, perceiving the scent of jasmine whenever she passed by their garden, and for a moment she thought she saw the sunlight form into a figure that looked liked her mother's hands sniffing the flowers, she found herself smiling through it all.
At night, she found herself in a glowing garden that felt familiar, like the one at her house, exactly the way it was when her mom was there but she wasn't poised to move forward.
Days passed into weeks, her mother's presence became more physical, she would find herself humming songs her mom loved while cleaning, cooking meals the way her mom did...
Her family noticed it and slowly she helped them all to heal, but sometimes she still felt that emptiness.
One afternoon, she was cleaning out her mother's room, something she never wanted to do before because she dreaded the memories they brought back, but she felt herself drawn to it suddenly.
She cleaned, saw old pictures, ones they took before she left, an old rusty phone her mom had once seized from her, she smiled remembering how much she whined about it.
She then realized something, if she really didn't want to have this memories, she would never have come back, she came back because she wanted these memories to be part of her, to live with them, even though it was a struggle.
She stumbled upon a book she had never seen before but carried her mother's scent, she blew off the dust and opened it... Her mother's write-ups.
One read
"We heal by remembering, memories heal the heart"
She felt like that message was for her, she held the book close to her chest, and her heart felt warmer, almost like sweet sayings were being whispered into her ears.
She felt calmer as she kept on cleaning up the room, she found herself arranging all the furnitures in the exact order it was when her mom was still alive.
She felt it, something was slowly leaving her, that emptiness was slowly filling up, she could smell it, everyday she stared at the sky and watched it turn pink, and they'll she'd say to her brother what her mom usually said.
"Hey the sky is wearing a blush"
They would laugh everything of, but she still felt down and Lonely.
One evening, close to dusk, she felt overwhelmed by the memories, and was shedding tears a flicker of light shone on her dresser and she knew, she saw a figure, she perceived the scent of jasmines and then came the complete calmness the complete filling up of her emptiness in her, she knew her mom was always with her.
She fell asleep and saw that garden again, she wasn't afraid of waking up and not seeing it, she walked further into it... And then came the complete healing
