Steemit challenge s28wk2 : Remembering Through Healing
Tina opened all the windows in her room. As the evening light outside entered the room, the colour of the walls seemed to look even older, and the colourful light seemed to be shimmering on the walls. Returning to her room after so long, standing quietly, was nothing new to Tina. But today, everything seemed strangely different to her. Because her mother's absence seemed to reassure her with a kind of silence spreading all around. Sometimes it felt like this silence was looking at her.

That night, Tina couldn't sleep well. When she couldn't sleep, she idea about going to the kitchen, because there had been thousands of memories of her mom there. Standing inside the kitchen, seeing the old spatula her mother had used, her heart ached for her. And she was crying in her coronary heart, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes without her knowing it. When she became an infant, her mom could fry eggs for her with this spatula, and would say with a smile, "Eat it, ingesting these offers you the strength to study." Now that her mother is no longer in this world, she turned into feeling loads of pain just thinking about these things.
However, Tina understood that this night might be distinct. While questioning, she turned off the light in the room and sat on the bed, as she heard a light sound from outside. It seemed just like the sound of her mother's footsteps. Tina herself shook her head in annoyance, knowing that this was all her imagination. Because she understood that her mother could by no means return. But still, it felt like a person was calling her, very quietly, very acquainted. While having these peculiar fantasies, Tina sooner or later fell asleep.
The next morning, Tina turned into sitting at the verandah drinking tea. Suddenly, her younger brother Rohan called from under, “Didi, these days plants have bloomed on mother’s tree! For the first time in a long time, Tina went all the way down to the lawn. The small papaya tree that her mother had planted together with her personal arms, without a doubt, had pink flowers blooming on it. Rohan stated, “You recognise, Didi, mom used to say that if a person looks after this tree, it will in no way dry up.” Tina remained silent. Something interior to her softened. She reached out and touched the flower and said, “Stubborn like mother… aren’t you?” Then Rohan laughed. After all this time, Tina additionally smiled gently.

That afternoon, Tina opened an old trunk and took out her mother’s letters. The letters had thousands of words written in her mother’s handwriting. In one letter, it was written, “Read it the day I am no longer here.” Then she took out the letter and started reading.
"If you ever find it hard to bear my absence, remember—I never left you.
Your every mistake, your anger, your pride—all were acceptable to me.
The day you find peace in your own way,
that day you will know that I am with you."
As she read the letter, Tina's tears welled up uncontrollably. The letter was getting wet, but she did not move her hand. For so long, she had thought that her last words to her mother should have been sweeter, better... But the last line written by her mother touched her heart—
"You will come back... I knew it. Because where there is love, children return."
The next day, Tina was working in the kitchen when suddenly the light started flickering. She thought there might be a problem with the electrical line. But when her mother's old timer-bell next to the stove rang by itself, she froze. This timer had been broken for a long time. It would not ring even after being pressed many times. Today, suddenly rang on its own.
Rohan rushed over and said, “Didi, don’t be afraid… maybe it’s windy.”
Tina smiled, “Does the wind set the timer?”
But she wasn’t afraid. Rather, it felt like someone was telling her, “Go ahead now.”
At that very second, Tina decided that the house wouldn’t just be a residence of reminiscences. She would return to her very own life, but this time now not with guilt towards her mother, but with the strength her mom had given her. When nighttime fell, she slowly closed the door. But before leaving, she looked lower back and stated,
“Mom, I’ll come again… Now ship me off with a grin.”
Suddenly, she felt a gentle voice coming from the kitchen,
This time, Tina really laughed. Because she knew that healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but bringing back memories to life next to her.
