SEC-S30W5: Spooky Bedtime Stories | Behind the Dark Side

Some years ago, I felt so happy going for youth service, but got a bit disappointed after seeing where I was posted. We were three in numbers who were to go to a particular village, and if I had been told about the dark side of the place I would have rejected my posting to the community.

While in camp I was told the place is the best place in the state, which made me become too curious to visit and follow my colleagues to the place by all means. On our way going to the place I kept mute and the lady beside me tried talking to me, but I didn't give her my attention.

On our arrival which was at night, I had to approach her myself and said to her; please don't be offended by my attention, my mind and everything about me is out of where we are being posted to. Without anyone saying anything I started feeling afraid.

Now we have arrived at the village, no network to reach out to my loved ones, so we visited a mountain to get a network. Hmmmm. This was where my fear became stronger than ever. While at the mountain, an old man approached us and started telling us how dangerous the mountains are and how dangerous the village is.

Hearing that my heart skipped, then the old man said I hope you guys are very prayerful then I looked at myself and said God I commit my life into your hands. Immediately I ran out of the place leaving my friends behind.

As we got home. Charles said to me; "Joe don't be afraid".

The lady said; "How can we survive staying in this village".

At night, I couldn't sleep, if I tried to close my eyes, I would become meditative on what the old man said. I became a watchman at night especially when I started hearing the sound of evil birds.

Out of fear, I tried to run to my friend's room, then I fell to my knees, and thank God for his presence and quick response that brought me back to life. From that day I started sleeping in my friend's home and praying every night before going to bed.

Every night we would spend studying the Bible, praying, and motivating ourselves with a good story before going to bed which was how we all survived staying at the village.
