Hey Fam ! In part 2 from our family trip to Rishikesh - India I am going to write little about Hindu Gods & Goddesses. So many stories. I was amazed by the experience of visiting some of the temples and to listen the local people talking and singing to them in mantras. Wonderful. I was thankful to be part of so much love and beauty.

The statues of their Gods are everywhere in Rishikesh, and I think all over India. There are about 85 of them. But the most popular are Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Kali.

The are called The Deities. Shiva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within Hinduism. Shiva is the "destroyer of evil and the transformer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma and Vishnu. Vishnu is the "preserver", supreme being, god of protection, preservation of Good. He is often represented resting on the coiled serpent Sheshnaag, with his consort Lakshmi.

Goddess Kali is also known as Adya, the first born. For the ignorant she creates fear while for otherr Kali removes the fear of death. Over time she has been worshipped as the Divine Mother. Mother Of The Universe. Adi Shakti. She is Goddess Of Time. Creation, destruction and power.

India is cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, grandmother of legend and the great-grandmother of Tradition. Our yoga teacher told us that India has 45 different languages. And he speaks 2 :) Interesting.

Ok. Back to Rishikesh and their famous Laxman Jhula bridge. The bridge across the river Ganges that connects two parts of the city , Tapovan in Tehri Garhwal district to Jonk in Pauri Garhwal district. It is full of people walking from one side to another. To be more interesting there are also cows and monkeys looking for some food. And of course the horning motorcycles :) The first week that we came we didn't even cross the bridge because it was so crowded.

Till next time :)

Namaste
