Today's Failure Is Not Your Tomorrow's Reality
You do not become a failure because you have had a couple of unsuccessful attempts but if you accept them as your lot, then it becomes the real failure. It does not matter how long you have made attempt towards something and it does not seem to work, it does not mean that you are a failure. A single trial or even a couple of failed trials does not make you a failure. More so, your reality is different from your failed attempts of today, so do not allow it to stop you from trying. Failing does not mean your chances of succeeding has been overridden, rather it is call for a more determined approach in life. You should not be defined by your failures but by the fact that you know success is assured.
While growing up, there was this particular boy within the place where we lived who had a dream of being in the Military. In fact, he was always fantasizing about becoming an airforce officer, to the point that he was nicknamed Cappo (slang for Captain). After he finished from secondary school, he wrote the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam that would grant him entrance into the school to make him pursue the training that would lead him into becoming a commissioned airforce personnel, but he did not make it at the sitting. He was so demoralized when he saw the result. The number of people that pass the exam and gain entrance is a tiny percentage of the entire people that write the exam, so as such, it is very competitive.
However, the failure did not make him to take his mind off his dream of being an officer, rather it gave him extra motivation to work even harder for the next exam. But by the next time, he also did not gain entrance for reasons he did not know at that moment. By that time, some of his friends already started advising him to consider another career or to look somewhere else. But to him, that means he had conceded defeat which he did not want to. So he met with his friend's father, who was a top airforce officer, to give him the secrets to succeed in the exam because he had written it two times and did not get it.
Adorably, he gave him some past questions to revise with, and also told him some ways to answer the question, and some other details he should know. He also promised to give him recommendations that would boost his chances of gaining entrance into NDA. By the time he wrote the exam the third time, he came out as the top 3 in the entire state. His name came out on merit list that he never needed any recommendation. He entered NDA and in record time, he graduated with honours and was commissioned as a flight officer. He rose very fast because of his commitment and dedication, and at the moment, he is now a flight captain; fulfilling his childhood desires. This shows that if you will not accept failure, then success is possible tomorrow.
A lot of times, when people give up on trial is just at the edge of the moments of their breakthrough. If you know what you stand to lose by giving up, you will know that giving up is not an option. In fact, there are things that you may not have gotten at the first attempt, not because you are not built for it, but because you are not trying it the right way. So as you make an attempt and did not arrive at the required result, you have to simply try again. However, one thing you need to know when trying again, is to try differently. Just like the story of my friend that made there attempts for his NDA, the third time, he had to try differently and that was when he achieved it. If he had kept trying the same way, he may not have achieved it.
When you try something and it did not work, while trying again, just know that you have to do things differently. You cannot do the same thing how you have been doing it all the while and expect to have different outcome. In order to make a headway which is different from your last failed attempt, then you have to endeavour to do things in a different manner.
