Infinite.

Pretty much all the portraits I have drawn over the years have had some kind of symbolism behind them - as does most of my art really. Sometimes, I used to do a write up of my own to accompany the piece, but to be honest, a lot of the time I found that doing that got a little too personal for my liking.

Yes, I have shared a lot of personal stuff here over the years, but this has always been like my “safe space”. Sharing it with the rest of the world always seemed a little daunting to me… silly as that may sound, so most of the time I would select a quote from somewhere which best resonated the message I was trying to deliver through the piece of art.

There was an abstract portrait piece I did some time back called “Infinite” and I was sharing it on social media earlier this morning, so I included the accompanying quote which I had selected for it at the time.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the real you, or what you have been conditioned to believe is you? The two are so, so different. One is an infinite consciousness capable of being and creating whatever it chooses, the other is an illusion imprisoned by its own perceived and programmed limitations. - David Icke

After sharing it, I lay in bed looking at the piece, thinking about the words I had chosen to associate with it and what they both meant to me, not so much then - but now. Finding the courage to believe in yourself despite what life and society has conditioned you think or feel, is probably one of life’s greatest challenges and one which in a manner of speaking - never ends.

As we move through time from childhood through to adolescence and then ultimately adulthood - again and again, we are faced with circumstances which test our fortitude as individuals, constantly in a state of being re-shaped and moulded as we go along.

Striking the balance between the two thought processes or “beliefs” if you will, that we are in fact infinitely capable whilst simultaneously becoming compassionately conscious of our humanness is where I think we find the key to unlocking the door to true self-love.

When we begin to understand that it is the understanding of the one which nourishes the growth of the other, then we can begin to spread our wings, leaving behind the limitations which we have imposed on ourselves as well as those hammered into us by others.

We do not need to be flawless or perfect to be beautiful. We do not need to be shiny and new to be capable and we should never pretend to be something we are not in order to suit the needs or wants of others.

❤❤❤

The picture is magical. It speaks for itself. It doesn't need your explanation, but it doesn't interfere or influence either.

Incidentally, the presentation in the video is certainly in keeping with the times, and the background music is appropriate. But - the sequence of images is too fast for me. I prefer to just look at the picture as it is for a while ;-))

Really like this ❤️

If you ask me most see themselves through the eyes of others labels included. It might be better if they saw their own fantasy-version.

With me there's nothing, no reflection so no need for mirrors.

I like your art. It looks African to me.
