RE: Happy 2021 - Better Year Ahead.
Happy new year! I just saw the Cancer stuff. Very sorry to hear you've been dealing with that too. The big C took over 2020 and the other aspects of 2020 destroyed everything else.
Hope Joe continues to improve. I assume that's your husband.
Stage 4 here also.
Oh man, I am so sorry to hear it.
Yes, my husband. We found out in Aug, it's been terrible, but I'm hoping this next phase gives us a bit of "Good times".
How are you doing?
We're managing as best as we can. It's my wife that's kicking ass and dealing with chemo and all the bs.
I am at a loss for words most of the time but steem just saved our ass. I dumped 3/4 of my bag at 33k so I'll be able to use that fiat to muster on.
Hope the next phase shows continued improvements. I know it's absolutely hell! Day at a time, sometimes an hour at a time.
Hang in there!
I know what you mean, stumbling through it in a haze and the financial impacts are rough as well.
I'm so glad you had a little nest egg that helped and my thoughts are with you.
I wouldn't wish this ride on anyone, and yet there have been some blessings.
well stated and likewise I wish we had star trek medicine and cancer could be eradicated.
The ugly truth is we're kind of just exiting the leeches stage of cancer treatment which is to say there's a long way to go.
My wife was offered to be part of some new research trial that does some form of DNA recombination to go in and destroy the sarcoma that began in her arm and before we ever thought this weird mystery pain was cancer we discovered it had spread to her lungs.
It's so rare it's unclassified and there's not really a protocol, thus far the chemo hasn't done much good so they're looking for the Hail Mary options.
Ugh dealing with the doctors is one of the worst parts of this. Here they're so calloused and curt, machine like even. No empathy or mincing words ever. Thankfully we're able to take advantage of socialised medicine.
We're using a university hospital so it's not as inefficient OR cheap as the full government hospitals which TBH aren't capable of such serious cases.
It's great for the ER and a broken arm etc but when it comes to specialised medicine and CT scans etc it's not an option as time is of the essence.
I basically have nobody here to get out my inner dialogue and it does suck that we're sharing this reality.
Though it sounds like chemo worked for your husband which is amazing and again I wish you both all the best in the next phase.
10 radiation treatments and 10 weeks of chemo and immunotherapy. We are also doing an integrated approach he is taking a lot of supplements and eating a diet meant to starve cancer.
He continues to take immunotherapy which has been changing cancer results for those with stage 4. We are combining traditional with "The Metabolic Approach to Cancer" which is a combination of supplements, stress reduction, and diet. With a focus on helping your body fight. He is weighing in at 124ish and food is really tough for him.
He had excellent results so far, but what a rough road.
I wish you guys strength and health, as you are well aware it's a very rough road. Remember Doctors have an opinion based on stats as you have brought up... but they don't know.
Interesting we need to look into these dietary requirements too.
At the ER now in fact with another fever 😔
Indeed docs speak stats and while I don't want false hope or sugar coated words some semblance of compassion would be nice. But, I get that to them it's a job and they're schooled under the capitalistic framework of profit margins and the business of medicine.
Brings up many philosophical debates.
I'll be around here I suppose. I see sun joined officially with China and tron seems to be a priority. Interesting place here still in those international aspects.
