Contest: Counting my Eggs

Greetings and glad to have you here. Most times we see our self making plans and hoping that they turn out the way we planned it and we are so optimistic and can beat our chest that at least 90% of our plans will mature the way we speculated it, that’s counting our eggs but sometimes the eggs break on the way, hahaha.

Some mature while some are carried away by the wind of disappointment but hey we keep pushing right? let me gist us a little about my steemit egg counting journey and how it has turned out so far.

Have you ever found yourself counting your eggs before? If yes, how do you feel when it didn't go as counted.

I’ve found myself countless time counting eggs especially in steemit. Infact they should have baptized me as egg counter. I’ve counted several eggs on steemit. Sometimes they mature and come out fantastic, so other times they don’t. For example, I’ve had seasons when I did contests, like plenty in a roll and somehow am optimistic based on what I think I put out there, that am going to emerge as a winner but all to no avail. Imagine doing 7 contests and not winning even one.

That feels quite discouraging but one thing I’ve learnt is to go and look out for what the winners did right that I didn’t do and learn and try again. And sometimes too, I just do the much I could and boom, I win. It feels good, real good.

How do you handle the idea of counting your eggs before they hatch on Steemit? Do you set realistic expectations or take risks?

I try to set realistic expectations but sometimes my expectations are not met because it somehow seem that there are some factors beyond one’s control as to whether you will get support or not. We can’t possibly have everything in check right? We do our best and wait for grace to happen.

For example I was hoping that by the ending of last year I was going to have 1000 steem power. I tried pushing and all but I couldn’t. The eggs didn’t hatch but that didn’t make me give up. Here I am still pushing and steeming.

How does counting your eggs apply to life outside of Steemit? Have you learned any lessons about being cautious or optimistic?

Steemit doesn’t only affect your life while on the platform, I’d say it affects every area of my life. I get discouraged sometimes but from steemit I’ve learnt to be optimistic in life and see the best out of every situation and hope for the best while I keep pushing.

I’ve gotten discouraged a couple of times when the support is not coming but thanks to my good friends in steemit who help to encourage me and keep emphasizing on consistency. I’ve carried that same attitude to every thing I do knowing that one day breakthrough will come. So am very optimistic.

Should you focus more on the effort you put in or the potential rewards on Steemit or any platform?

Every effort deserves a reward. That’s what keeps us going. If all we do is work and get no reward, we won’t be encouraged to do more. So the focus and reward is like the two sides of a coin. We should be focused to give our best and then be glad when the rewards come rolling in.

How do you balance ambition and counting your eggs? Any strategies for managing expectations while pursuing goals?

The balance between expectations and counting our eggs is knowing that there’s the probability that not all our eggs will hatch. While we set targets and do our best, praying, working and hoping for the best, we should also know that there are some factors beyond our control. So we should be open minded in our expectations.

If it’s works out perfect, we rejoice and thank God, if it doesn’t, we restrategize and try again. But we should not give up hope from trying again or throw in the towel knowing that one day we will break even.
