How can athletes use these social media platforms to grow brands? Comment below!

I am an athlete in Panama and also represent different brands. I am part of a paddling team from Bocas del Toro called Cayuco Paunch. Last year for the 2016-2017 season we won almost every race, broke almost every record and became the national champions in Panama. We also happen to live in one of Panama's most exotic destinations: Bocas del Toro and we paddle around these Caribbean islands just about everyday. Because of this we have excellent sponsors. Obviously our sponsors want us to promote ourselves through social media wearing their brands or representing their companies.

They always ask for us to use the more traditional platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Having a strong fan base is also very important as well as interaction from our followers (duh).

But what about these platforms such as Steemit that actually pays us for our content? How can an athlete like myself use these platforms and the rest to promote themselves (and their sponsors!)? I have thought about using this platform more and more but with long hours training and working to pay my bills, having so many platforms to keep myself and my sponsors happy can be a difficult task.

I obviously want to as successful as I possibly can from being an athlete. We have excellent sponsors and without them we couldn't even paddle. Our sponsors pay for our expenses, for travelling to races, they give us gear to train in, and also  provide us a place to train. They expect us to promote them via social media. Training three to four hours a day can be a burden on our jobs and we end up having to work late to accommodate the long hours training.

So, how can I use Steemit and other platforms more regularly just like I do with Instagram or Facebook? I guess I am reaching out to the Steemit community looking for answers. I use some tools to share my content to various platforms, such as Hootsuite, which I have found to be very resourceful. What tools can I use to create content and send it to various platforms such as Steemit, dTube or Steepshot? What recommendations do you offer for an athlete to use this platform to promote themselves and the businesses they represent? Would you even recommend an athlete use these platforms to promote themselves and their sponsors? Let me know what you think below! #sports #steemit #socialmedia #athlete

@angiebocas: I am a Recruiter & Headhunter. In LinkedIn I have a Network of about 30.000 1° Degree Connections. In Facebook, I do have a company page with more than 6,000 Funs. In Twitter a base of about 8,000. I even have a website that I am going to replace for my page on steemit.com

I write everything in Steemit.com Posts. Then I use the connector Steemit provides to shoot the post via LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter at the same time . I Kill three birds in one shot.

And yes, Steemit.com helps you to lower marketing costs. I even making money out of Steemit.com

Think of this: Steemit.com is a Publishing Marketing Platform where you can lower costs and even make money.

So convinced I am that I am marketing steemit.com against 1 Million people. And I am not alone, @jerrybanfield has marketed steemit.com against more than 5 million people.

How do you do that?

Let's hope that they add Instagram, it's what all my sponsors ask for more than anything. Its the most popular platform that they want us to use to promote their brand, but yes, you do have a point of using Steemit and then sharing it to other platforms. Good idea...

I think Steemit is huge for branding! I'm trying to create mine on Steemit already :) I'm glad to see sports, mma, and jiu-jitsu beginning to gain some traction here! Be sure to check out steemitbjj.com for tutorials coming soon on how to maximize your Steemit experience!

Great post @angiebocas, Knowledge is having the right answer. Intelligence is asking the right questions! I'm brand new to Steemit, first day in fact :) I work for a Canadian Sporting company and we sponsor athletes in every sport you can imagine. Just like in Sport, in the promotion space you must be willing to take risks to win and get noticed. In my opinion Steemit looks like a huge opportunity for brands and athletes. Be real, be transparent and most of all never give up.

Welcomed on board @deansteem. Steemit.com has a huge and strong potential as marketing platform. I used the steemit.com links of each post, even in email marketing campaigns. The Steemit.com share bottons for LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter are just like shooting the floor : You can't miss it

Thanks for the comment @deansteem cheers!

Quite remarkably the steemit platform brings you (the athlete) international branding that traditional American sports are dying for. You do have a nice base where you are from but what floors me here is the amount of international that is brought here. I never had visited online with someone from Venezuela, and after being on the platform have chatted/blogged with 10 or more people from the country, talking about things ranging from sports, politics, you name it really. So yes there is much value on this platform as you hitting a lot of hot buttons for millennial attention: a platform that is built on status like a video game, international instant commentary/input/advice, as well as a program that is very tech minded, driven heavily on the changes of literally today, this week going on in all walks of life. I think this platform is just waiting to explode just a matter of more people finding out about it, which will definitely happen with time. Best of luck in your athletic pursuits, I was a baseball player that took the development of that skill very seriously and continue to follow the game with the fervor I still continue to play it with.

Interesting :)

On instagram our followers both on my paddling team and my personal account have a wide range of international followers as well. We have paddlers from SUP and va'a as well as outrigger canoe teams from around the world following us. I don't see many paddlers on this platform or Panamanians but I am sure, like you have said, that this will grow and I will see them here. Saludos desde Panama! :)

Good question @angiebocas ! Follow the responses on this one. Curious to find out...

Hi l am tania! I just upvoted you. Please beck updated

upvoted as well

I've used Buffer to schedule Tweets previously, however I'm pretty sure it doesn't have integration for Steemit yet. Sorry I can't be much more help...

I would say seeing is believing, a good example would be @allasyummyfood who has 79,000 followers here on Steemit, which surpasses her 76,000 on youtube and her 16.9 thousand on Instagram. She is one of the most persistent and consistent bloggers on this platform. You can do the same, just be consistent, even if you only have time to write a short post. make it into a journal or the daily life of an athlete, use pics as well.
