I was bitten by a dog 😭. What to do and what not to do when this happens.

Hello dear Steemers.

I going with my dog to the park as usual, Dominique a dog of 2 and a half years, he is very territorial like other dogs in the building.
He found another dog with whom he does not get along and they started fighting, in despair, that my dog would not get hurt from the fight, I put my arm to separate my dog and grab him by the leash.

I pull him by the strap and the other dog grabs him with the bite on the left back leg, Dominique tries to defend himself, and the owner of the other dog holds him by the strap and separates him, amid all the fuss my dog turns his face and I He bit his forearm, which was in total self-defense and only an act instinctively.

The truth was that the bite with both upper and lower fangs, I had two wounds on the forearm one below and one above, at the time I just went up to my house and it did not hurt, I guess because of the effect of adrenaline, I put alcohol and scrub the wound myself with cotton.

A neighbor who saw what happened, came to my house and offered to take me to a hospital module, when the attention was fast, but there was not much to put me, the gauze had to take it and I placed two stitches in each wound , in addition to a Diclofenac injected for pain.

At the time I did not feel any pain, but on the way to the module I can properly say that dog bites are very painful, not only because of the wound, but also because the pressure exerted by the dog on the arm generates a lot of pain.

The good thing was that I could observe how they take points, first properly disinfect the wound with gauze and merthiolate, with a needle and thread (surgical suture), you pass the needle through the two ends of skin, then you wear the nylon to the end, short a sufficient stretch that allows you to tie the knots, you double bend with one end, and the other end you pass through the center of the double turn. Then repeat that as many times as necessary.

According to my medical recovery I must take:

  1. Ciprofloxacin, cefadroxil or Amoxicillin 500mg for 8 days, every 8 hours.
  2. Diclofenac potassium or sodium, brugesic for 8 days every 8 hours.

After a few hours of all that, this morning I went to a medical module and I put the "anti tetanica" vaccine to prevent tetanus a vaccine that should be placed once a year for 5 years, and then a booster every 10 years.

The moral, is that you never expose yourself in a fight between two animals since their instinct is to defend themselves, they do not measure who is their threat and who tries to defend them and you could end up with a deep bite, since our skin is not as thick as the of them, with a visit to the doctor and a list of medicines and expensive things to do.

If you like what I do, feel free to help me continue.
