Together with your child between 4 and 12 years old, make one or more glove puppets using the materials of your choice. Remember to indicate the materials used, as well as the step-by-step process and the final result. Include photographic evidence. Also include both the children and you making the puppet and showing the final result.

Step-by-step process of making our Puppet

Step1
We placed our colourful and fun socks, laid them by the side, cut off the toe area, made a vertical line cut of about 5cm on the sock with scissors and then turned it making sure that the heel was facing up.

Step2
We took a piece of cardboard of an oval shape and glued it to the cut-toed area of the sock to create the mouth.

Step3
We got another pink colour of cardboard to cover the first cardboard by gluing it to the sock to create a mouth, making it look smooth and giving a more precise mouth look.

Step4
We created an eye with the white cardboard by cutting it into a small circular shape and glued the black button to its centre. It gave us an eye, which we glued on the sock, and we added a nose below the eyes using our colourful button and glued it to the sock.

Step 5
We added ears, by drawing the ear shape on a cardboard with a pen and cut it out. Then glue it above the eyes of the puppets. We created each puppet specific type of ears sharp

How many puppets did they make? What character do you think they would create? What could they do with it?

We made two puppets. The puppets we made will create a friendly character of a rabbit and cat as they look beautiful, colourful and playful. The kids chose their unique characters and gave them lovely names. They would create a story with it. They already created a story with the two puppets. I watched them have a conversation as the kids spoke behind them, and I enjoyed it as they did that. It was fun

Was it difficult to make the puppet? What was your overall experience like?

For me, it was a bit difficult because I had not done it before. But for the kids, it was not because they had done it before in their school project, so when I read the activity to them, they were happy and explained to me how it is done, so we began the process together. I handle some of the materials, such as scissors, and glue, so they don't get hurt with them.

We always positioned the accessory first to be sure it fit before glueing it; it took us about an hour to make it. But it was teamwork as the kids already had an idea of it and directed me on what to do. It was a fun, creative and exciting experience as we all engaged in the activity and had a beautiful result.

Did the child enjoy this activity? What did he or she enjoy most?

Yes, they enjoyed the activity as they were in charge of telling me how to make a puppet; it was a moment of creativity and imagination.
What they enjoyed most was adding the different ears to create their favourite and unique characters. They also enjoyed fixing the heart-shaped tongue.
