A Federal Reserve Note, Our Dollar
We did not always have the Federal Reserve Note. I looked it up. Before the Federal Reserve Note we had Silver Certificates, but they stopped making those in 1964.
1964 was the same year when dimes were last made with 90% silver. After that it just seemed like the price of things kept on going up.
Well, as I write I am 60 years old, I was about 5 or 6 years old at that time. Yes I remember the times of a Hershey bar costing only 5 cents. Then later on it went to 10 cents. So what is that all about?
Was it cause they took the silver out of the coins and they stopped printing Silver Certificates in 1964? I will have to admit that I didn't even know about the silver ending in 1964 in dimes when I was a kid.
Maybe I would have saved every silver dime I came across, but I didn't know in those days. I know that if I took my dad's soda bottles to the store they would give me some change.
I thought it was better when we used to just reuse the bottles. All the kids would want to bring the bottles to the store for a little coin. I thought it was a good system. Those bottles were heavy also. They were made nice and thick.
I think people are throwing away more and more glass. Well, look at the boys next door. They didn't want to deal with the glass beer bottles so one of them ask me if I wanted to take care of them.
Of course I took care of it as I like the extra money when I turn them in and I only turn them in when I have a pretty good load.
So maybe it is just the inconvenience of turning in the bottles. Of course now we had to turn them into a recycling center, but when I was a kid we just turned them into the local store. It seemed more convenient when you just returned them to a local store.
Let's get back to the dollar. When I was a kid I remember the McDonald's commercial where you can get two hamburgers, a bag of fries and a small drink for under a dollar and still get change. I looked it up, it is a 1970 commercial.
Well, you couldn't do that now days. I think now days a cheese burger is a dollar.
Of course if we really wanted to have a change in the dollar, we would have to get rid of the Fed, The Federal Reserve as in the Federal Reserve Note. They are a central bank, but we were not to have central banks. Andrew Jackson warned us that they will try to make a comeback. They did slip in during the night.
That reminds me of a scripture, as it is written, For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause to fall. Proverbs 4:16.
Q says that gold will destroy the Fed. Well, I look forward to that day. It might be a good idea to look into the precious metals if gold is going to destroy the Fed.
Let's end with a scripture, The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; Genesis 2:11.
