Mail Carrier Went By, But No Mail

Well, maybe no news is good news. I was watering my lawn and seen the postal carrier vehicle park at the curb under the shade of a large tree.

I used to deliver mail a long time ago back in the early 80's, but got fired before my third month there. Them postal vehicles don't have any air conditioning. Of course why should they, it would only cause the vehicle to use up more gas?

The girl postal carrier just walked by and went to the neighbor's house. Well, I am not expecting any bills right now anyway, maybe in a few more days.

So what's in our mail now days? Well, for me it is junk mail and bills. I can recognize a bill instantly. Well, to me that is the most important mail. Then there is the junk mail, I can take it or leave it.

Well, sometimes the junk mail can be used to start a fire in the fireplace. The thing is though, that it is too hot right now to start a fire. That time is coming, but not today. I am saving some of my junk mail for that purpose though.

Sometimes, because of the sensitive information in the junk mail, then I would have to shred the mail. My old shredder still works and I'm glad for that.

When the bills come I always put them in my special place. Yep right under my keyboard so I won't lose them. I remember sometimes I have misplaced some bills, so I just send in the check with the account number with no bill.

Yes, even with no bill you are responsible. Well, plus I don't like those late fees. As a matter of fact I like it better when there is no fee at all. Well the best way to do that is to not be late on bills.

So why are people mostly late on bills? Well, that would be because their not having money in the checking account. Yes, I been there long ago when I was very undisciplined in money, but one must learn to discipline the money or bankruptcy may come. A lot of my friends went that way. Even when I was very undisciplined in money in those days, I didn't want to go the way of bankruptcy as some of my friends have done.

Yes, if one is too simple in their money matters, as soon as the paycheck comes then that one may try to figure out how to spend that money as soon as possible without a budget. It would be better to pay oneself first then go about and budget the rest of the month out.

I remember that Michael Jackson had a hard time with money. I mean there was money coming in, but it the money going out is more than the money coming in, then there is trouble as that cannot be sustained. You would think with all that money coming in that one could just spend less than what was coming in each month.

That happens to a lot of people, they have good jobs, but they never disciplined the money. Maybe they didn't have a chance to read the Richest Man In Babylon by George S Clason. Remedies for a lean purse is one of my favorite parts of that book.

It reminds me of the old experiment with the marshmallow and the child. I seen a show long ago where there was an experiment and a child was in the room and someone brought in a marshmallow and told the child that he may eat the marshmallow now, but if the child could wait for a certain amount of time, then the child will get two marshmallows.

Well, just like in life, some children in the experiment ate the marshmallow at that moment, but some wanted more, so they waited and got two marshmallows. They followed up on these children and the ones that were willing to wait for the extra reward did well in life.

That is what we have to do. Delay instant gratification, example not buying the current thing that a lot of people want to buy and save money. Then what to do with that money? Well, one could buy silver, gold or crypto or some other investment. Delay the gratification and precious metals or crypto will pay off in time. You see just one marshmallow now, instant gratification or 2 marshmallows later if one could discipline oneself to wait.

Let's end with a scripture, Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2.

Great lesson. It's like eating the seed instead of sowing it.
