The little things that matter

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians!

Whenever I have the chance to play video games, I always end up playing a strategy game, or something with a whole lot of micro managing on it. I have no idea why, but that is just the way I am. Games like call of duty, sure they are nice, but what really turns my gears are games like Minecraft, sims, StarCraft, Warcraft civilization etc.

The beauty of this micro managing function is that it allows one the opportunity to control minute details in a game, such as the health, armor, enchantments and skills of individual players etc.

The little things that matter

Now someone might be wondering where the heck I'm going with this sort of intro.

I have seen people come into steemit and take it like their forgotten Facebook account.
Posting and interacting only once in 2weeks.

I have also seen people come into steemit and spend a majority of their time on comments, steem chat, discord, telegram, whatsapp and any other place they happen to find steemians

  • the will to engage with others, is a little thing that matters

Its easy to have plans and states end goals. Everyone wants to be rich, some may even have well defined goals such as "being in charge of co-operations".

Such statements come to realisation when plans are put in place, when all the little aspect has been resolved.

I once had a classmate then in secondary school who would proclaim all sorts of things, being the world greatest scientist, those sort of things.

Being the world greatest scientist does not just happen. The field of science to major in needs to be taken into account, the amount of time spent learning the trades needs to be thought of.

For years I had had the idea to become a producer, the ones shown on TV and heard on the radio always made it look so easy.
Facing reality that so much needs to be done is what often times chases people away trying out things.

In the STEEM

All that said, it is those little things that we get wrong when introducing someone to the steemit society.

As everyone who has engaged/ is engaging in community building knows, it if easy to tell anyone that steemit is a place that pays .
A place that gives money, so to speak. The problem about this method of introduction is that it explains nothing and can lead to future frustration if the lad coming in is not patient.

Many users that I know abondoned the platform, mainly did it because they came in seeking riches and found out that the gold was buried deep.

Introduce, Teach, Integrate.

Watching great leaders on steemit, they often stress the need and saying;

come for the reward, stay for the community
This, I find is the best way to approach steemit. New users coming in need to understand that steemit isnt a walk in the park

It isn't about making money fast and sharp, but more of interacting with a robust community.

About using the decentralized online, to make an impact for yourself and your community on the offline.

Helping one another and growing together to have a vibrant community.

Steemit is much more than just a place to make money if we all can look past the monetary aspect.

The Nigerians of steemit

One of the great things nigerian steemians have done is able to change the image of Nigeria that the world has.

Rather than have Nigerians be known as scammers, there are Nigerians out there working to ensure that Nigerians are hardworking and innovative individuals.

The helping hand

Overall, I feel helping others and preparing the new comers for the hull ahead is a better marketing gimmick that just telling them that steemit pays.

One of the great things nigerian steemians have done is able to change the image of Nigeria that the world has.

This makes me proud
Very proud and happy

The other day one yahoo boy was asking me about Steemit

See eye when I use take look am ehn...

Thank God for what we have been able to build here.

The future is bright

Baba TJ, the future is bright indeed, I salute you and other Nigerians pushing the country and flag higher.

Brilliant piece @destinysaid

Come for the rewards, stay for the community

This line is so relatable. So many people came into the platform with the wrongest of notions, but somehow the re-orientation especially by top steemians has helped a lot of people find their footing on Steemit. It can only get better from now on, i do believe. Nigeria is definitely on the up, in steemit. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for dropping by sir Rickie, many people who leave simply aren't patient enough to learn the ropes of steemit.

Hello @destinysaid

It isn't about making money fast and sharp, but more of interacting with a robust community.

I actually came in with the mind-set of turning my fortunes around and almost got frustrated but when I settled in, I discovered it as a warm place 'like home' where I could groom my talent -poetry , interact with great minds like you and earn a few coins in the process. This healthy perspective made me more relaxed and focused. Yes the new recruits should be anchored properly -Steemit is a community where you perform your optimal best and socialize with the world's best , but far from being a place of quick cash. Thank you for this timely post.
@edith4angelseu

Yes ma'am, you're right 100% in glad you stayed, at least you're enjoying the stay now.

come for the reward, stay for the community

We should all have the mindset that the goal here is not the money. The goal is to destroy the world's unjust financial system. Thanks for sharing this post made my day

That is what I am working towards, raising Nigerians that can actually make changesnin Africa and Nigeria, not depending government agencies and all

@ destinysaid I came to understand that anything we do in life we need to be more dedicated and consistent for us to succeed. And on our way to success we need to help others to succeed. @theheralds.

Consistency is the key word on steemit sir, thanks for this.

Hello @destinysaid this is well package

You said some things that I'm very happy about:

One of the great things nigerian steemians have done is able to change the image of Nigeria that the world has.

Rather than have Nigerians be known as scammers we've changed the world orientation....... Sincerely this, I tell you, I'm always waking up smiling....

You advice all to if you come for the reward, then stay for the community

Seriously, that's just it...... Endurance gives a lot of reward.... Recently, I discover a lot of things in steemit.

And i concluded, If the price of steem is $0.30, I'll continue steeming, if my pay have no cent, I'll continue steeming

Thanks for putting this up bro....
@honourmaus

You're on here with the right mindset indeed brother, waiting to see more from you.
