"Ithaqa" Comic Book Update #117 A Touching Moment Between Characters

With this page you can see a fairly substantial change Theresa and I made to the script between the penciling and inking stages.

Initially we didn't end on the panel in which Hazel hugs Margaret to comfort her. I had some line about her trying to give Margaret a pep talk about getting out of this hole they've found themselves in.

I went back and forth a little bit, wanting to stay true to my original script (like a vain fool!) and resisted what my gut was telling me. Hazel hugging Margaret is a powerful and touching panel, that should be the anchor of this page, we don't need another panel where Hazel says some crap that doesn't matter!

When you have a moment that strikes you (or at least it struck me anyway) you don't want to dilute it with extra stuff. So I wrestled with it, and talked to Theresa, and consolidated some lines so that we could end with the hug.

It was absolutely the right choice!
