"[contest] my skill is my power || season 20 by @emmaboy23

Greetings to my fellow steemians in this community, it's been a while since I posted and today I have come once again to share one of my creativity with you all. It's my mother's birthday and I wanted to gift her with something that reflects my appreciation and unwavering love towards her. Inspired by her love and fondness for African print,I envisioned a stylist, beautiful African bag that would compliment my mom's elegant sense of style.

After much thought on what to do I settled on a kettle purse design, it's sleek shape and design with it's portability made it the perfect gift for my mom and for daily use. Without much further ado let's go into the process I used in creating this purse.

MATERIALS

• Ankara fabric
• cardboard and carton
• gum
• scissors and
• ruler

PROCESS

step I

Firstly, with my scissors and my ruler, I measured 5 inches by 20 inches on my cardboard and carton, then I cut it off.

step 2

After doing that, I then cut both the carton and the cardboard to the required shape and fold them bit by bit.

step 3

As I finished with that process, I then cut the edges of both the cardboard and carton so it will lap when I apply my fabric to it.

step 4

As I continued with it's structure and process, I then applied gum on my fabric and gum it to my cardboard and carton and I also inserted snap button to the edge of it.

step 5

As I still continued crafting the purse, I measured carton by the length 3 inches by 6 inches and cut off into two pieces and gum it to my black fabric, and then I attach it to the side of the body of the purse.

step 6

I then apply some gum all over the body of the black fabric that has already taken the shape of the purse and then I gum my red Ankara fabric material to it to add a little bit of design and colors to it

step 7

In this step , I then made the handle of the purse by cutting out a long piece of black Ankara fabric and fold it together and then I gum it to the side of the purse.

As I finished up the purse and the final step was made I held the completed Ankara purse, admiring it's beauty and the joy it will bring to my mother. With every step and process carefully curved into making this craft here is my final result and some pictures

As I presented the purse to her she was very much happy and in that moment I realized that crafting something out of love is more than just a handmade gift it was a piece of my love and care towards my mother.

I remember this creativity. I once did the same bag using a fabric and carton back then in school. At first I thought I couldn't do but I was happy when I created it and present it in school. Well done for appreciating and celebrating your mum. Wishing you the best. Good luck.
