What it means to be Customer-Centric
Every Business is Customer-focused but very few are Customer-centric.
This post talks about what does it mean to be a customer-centric business which is now a priority for businesses looking to thrive in today's customer-first world.
What does it mean to be customer-centric?
Businesses exists so as meet and satisfy certain needs in form of goods and services or to solve certain problems. If there are no customers/clients for what your business produces or offers, there is absolutely no point in running your business. Do you agree with me?
Since the above is true, any sets of objectives, aims and operations should be targeted towards ensuring that customers are happy with every experience with your business. It entails putting your customer first, and at the core of your business. So in essence, it’s your customers who are running the show, making you huge and constant profits and paying the salaries of your employees. All the desire is for you to take care of their problems, create products that make their lives easier, and staying alert in resolving any bottlenecks in their path to success.
But in reality, customer-centric business identify their most valuable customers and ensure their satisfaction at all time. The reason for that is because not all customers turn out to be profitable. Thus, businesses that seek to be customer-centric will identify the best and valuable customers, focus all their resources on building their products and services around the needs of those specific individuals.
Ways to achieve that.
- Put those special customer satisfaction ahead of everything else by creating a smooth and easy experience for them each time they have a contact with your business. Make them enjoy and value the experience at all time. The reason for this is that it makes those customers forever loyal to you.
- Communicate, engage and listen to them from the beginning in a way and manner that suits them. Being customer centric means communicating and understanding the customer’s point of view and respecting the customer’s interest. You will find that customers can help you build a products and services that other customers love.
- Always provide a highly competitive prices that are perceived to be in line with what they are looking for on the products they purchase most often.
- Shower those customers with rewards for their constant patronage on a consistent base. This shows signs of appreciation. Reward and appreciate them via bonuses, greetings and gifts on their special days, hampers on festive periods, and also show concerns when the are sick or loss a special one.
Now..
What is your thought on building a customer-centric business and do you have any tips on how businesses will WOW their customers?
You know, any time you post something related to business, I find application for it on writing. Maybe because writing is my business.
It's true that most businesses are customer focused and not customer centered. Eg. GTBank...
For me, identifying key customers and giving them great service is good. However, it should be in such a way that the 'great service' is available for everyone who becomes a good customer and not just reserved for a few people for life.
Great post, as usual
