There is/has been some very interesting projects built on it just this year alone. Have you come across #Waves and the #WavesPlatform ?
It is about to release smart contacts and is a very user friendly platform. I think it could be real competition for eth.
There are many platforms with interesting proposals and good tech, but the real value comes with the adoption of it. Eth is what it is because there is so mucho development in the ecosystem, so many dapps and companies working on it, that means money. EOS is coming with the biggest hype ever seen in the crypto realm, Block.one ICO was the biggest in history, and still it success will depend on how fast current development made in other blockchains like dapps on eth and even steemit. The only factor that justifies the project sucess is @Dan and his 2 prooven working products and success, Bitshares and Steem, and even though that these are 2 platform with an incredible success but marginal valuation, both under the top 30 at CoinMarketCap.
Waves is cool but is not getting even half the attention from devs that ETH or EOS has.
