Flowering Jasmine Plant : 10 April 2024

I was delighted when the first flower opened a week ago. Have a look :

At the time I wasn’t that sure what colour the flower was going to be as you can see the unopened buds look light pink.

The photo above shows the difference a week and a bit makes to a plant on the window sill getting constant sunlight:

None of the photos I managed to take with my friend’s camera (mine was recharging) are clear or ‘on focus’ enough but I wanted to leave a record of this beautiful plant. It’s not a rare plant and you probably already know that it’s ‘jasmine’, Jasminum. It came as a present and we managed to ascertain that it’s a scented Jasmine plant.

It’s actually really encouraging when you find lots of information about a plant. This website is very comprehensive in its approach.

What I’d really like to do is to be able to ‘propagate’ it : cut one or two bits and see if I can make more plants. This gardening know-how gives advice on how to make new plants from new shoots or hardened branches (they call that 'hardwood'). I’ll try both methods as it would be really great to have the subtle scent of this plant all over the house.

The video was interesting but I wish there was no background music. I find the music is rather distracting; I’d just like to get the information without that added extra. By the way, interestingly the first comment for the video was precisely about this point so I followed the link for the ‘director’s cut’. The Youtuber apologises about the loud background music, but the new video still has the sound ! Anyhow, it was good to see how the person takes the cuttings and plants them.
