AT&T Closes Directv Operations in Venezuela.
Hello dear readers!
Venezuela woke up to face another bad chapter in this tragic history that we have been living for some years, it seems that we are increasingly isolated, due to the fact that our options for information or entertainment are limited.
First, a few years ago, the Venezuelan state began to close some media, recently the satellite television provided by the state through the telecommunications company Cantv stopped working without much or no explanation, leaving many homes behind. without the service.
My personal experience.
Today after getting up to check the platforms, read some publications, answer some comments and have breakfast, I was sitting in front of the television to see some news from the country when suddenly the television channel I was watching was left without a signal.
I was testing some connection and verifying that there was a satellite signal and indeed there was a satellite signal, I thought that this situation was caused by a failure in the Directv platform. I went out with my wife to do some shopping to return and meet the news on the Internet.
Directv closed operations.
Today the telecommunications multinational AT&T announced the closure of Directv Latin America's operations in Venezuela.
AT&T reported in a statement published on its website that the US sanctions on Venezuela prohibit the broadcast of the Globovisión and Pdvsa TV channels.
Directv owns approximately 45% of the subscription television market in Venezuela.
AT&T is the largest pay television company in Venezuela and was one of the last major US companies that still operated in the country affected by the political, economic and social crisis. Directv has a 23-year tradition in the country and 600 employees.
"Since it is impossible for AT&T's Directv unit to comply with the legal requirements of both countries, AT&T was forced to close its pay television operations in Venezuela," said the multinational.
"Because it is impossible for AT & T's DIRECTV unit to comply with the legal requirements of both countries, AT&T was forced to close its pay TV operations in Venezuela, a decision that was made by the company's US leadership team without any involvement or prior knowledge of the DIRECTV Venezuela team. "
Conclusions.
This announcement affects a large part of the Venezuelan population, mostly those who live in the interior of the country due to the deficiency in open signal television, which is why people made an effort to access satellite television to achieve informed and have some distraction in the family.
If access to Directv, or any other satellite television option, will undoubtedly be much more difficult for many to deal with confinement, access information or keep the little ones in the house entertained.
This announcement represents another sign that shows the deterioration and setbacks that we Venezuelans are facing and that without a doubt is taking us back decades in a country with a lot of wealth on its soil.
We are Project HOPE a community that brings hope!
Hi @fucho80
Another unfortunate and sad news for my country, the repercussion is really significant, especially as you indicated @ fucho80 to all those population located in the interior areas of the country that it is impossible to access another form of cable television, disinformation will continue to reign in my beloved country :-(
Sad but very true, we are becoming more and more limited, the telephone signal of some operators is very bad, the Internet service is lacking, but here we are resisting, I am optimistic that this will happen at any time.
Hello @fucho80
This really affects me a lot, I'm not in my country but it hurts, every day is worse, every day something new happens (negative), every time the government has more isolated people, I know it's not easy, and as you say many had this service and now to seek other options "as always" fortunately Venezuelans always get something good out of any situation no matter how bad it is, UNTIL A CHISTE!
That's why we are characterized by many, for being people who do not stop at all, so simple, we are not left without something because we look for something else and so, it is sad to see that the Venezuela in which I grew up is no longer even a quarter of what it was, but I have faith and hope that soon or much things will change!
Our history has to take another direction.
That's for sure, I think history will take a better path.
If the Venezuelan is a special being, he is able to laugh at the tragedy, to make a joke of every negative situation he lives in, the Venezuelan laughs at the popular misfortunes and that is what makes us strong to endure so many things.
Thanks for being here @franyeligonzalez, thanks for your comment.
That's true, these issues touch me a lot, my country will recover at some point and many will see us succeed again!
And the worst thing is knowing that a company that was born from Venezuelans did you know that friend-?
Well, if Directv was created by the famous Cisneros family.
And in Venezuela until today it worked ..
Hello friend, it was always attributed to the cisneros but I do not know if it is true, the truth of all this is that it was in the hands of this multinational and for the reasons they explain they are forced to close operations in our country.
What the government says, right now I can not know, I do not have how to see news, only what comes out on the internet and right now is that we are recovering from a power outage that lasted 4 hours, another recurring problem.
Here we continue fighting brother, we must maintain the faith that all this will happen.
This is actually a really sad news and this can really affect the Venezuelans who are mostly in love with gaining information and news occurring worldwide. I'm just wondering how I'm gonna cope in such situation because I'm actually a lover of satellite TV due to the information and news gained from watching such TV.
I just hope the government will look into this and find a means of pleasing it's citizens more to ensure they provide a more better means.
Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️
This is not a good news, people who are living in the interior of countries do not really have access to internet facilities and they get necessary informations from television stations, this is not good for a country.
Logically it is very bad. In my case we were more than a year without television due to flaws in the Directv decoder, at the end of last year we managed to recover it and now operations in the country are closed.
It is a hard blow. I am not a TV addict, but a big consumer. I hope and have a feeling that they have not ordered the equipment or done something like that, which is like "Well, we cut Venezuela FOR NOW and when the government comes out we will re-establish communications and business with them."
So I see it. I also know that collecting the equipment was chaotic to administer and, as the Venezuelan is, it was going to bring more problems than solutions. So we really hope that things are solved and is for the better.
Today in all the heart of the news in networks and the mega diffusion of the event, a theory of ...
"The whole Avila may be burning, and we will make jokes, memes, chains and tomorrow will be the day after." The speed with which we consume a news item is astonishing and even more so that we do not put so much seriousness into it. It is a pity but also a call to conscience.
Venezuela carries blow after blow in an infinite round towards freedom
Hello dear @jacorv, thanks for sharing your opinion.
We are optimistic and we believe that our country will rise and become prosperous again, I think that this is a test that we will overcome and full happiness will return.
Thanks for being here.
AT&T an international telecommunications company headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, United States (US) will immediately cease its company's operations effectively in Venezuela.
According to a press statement from AT&T, sanctions from the US government against Venezuela have banned Globovision broadcasts and PSUV channels from providing pay TV services in Venezuela.
Because AT&T DIRECTV is not possible to comply with the legal requirements of the two countries [the US and Venezuela], AT&T was forced to close down its pay-TV operations in Venezuela. This decision was made by the US central team without the involvement or prior knowledge of Venezuela's DIRECTV.
That's right, thanks for sharing this comment.
Welcome!
That is very bad news, Venezuala with large oil resource suffers such economic crisis. Here I just can give motivation to Venezuelans to stay strong and find some alternatives.
Let me be a little frank here, this is political and gradually the government of Venezuela is taking Venezuela to a fourth world nation. What i am saying are just speculations as i am not in the country but from my view, It looks like the government sanctioned the TV for broadcasting what they shouldn't or the government placed extra taxes and licensing fee on them. The company AT&T isn't a government owned company so the company might have to weigh
It is business and if the country and the company can't come to an agreement, then the company has to leave.
Logically, all this has its political background, the United States government is pushing for the government in power in Venezuela to come out of power and thus end so many years of misery in Venezuela.
