Porcupines as pet

Being an animal lover that i am i couldnt resist sharing this picture, saw it on instagram

This is a picture of a porcupine, they are rodentian mammals with a coat of sharp spines, or quills, that protect against predators and they are majorly found in the wild and until yesterday i wasnt aware that porcupines are also used as pet, it has never crossed my mind that such an animal could be used as pet majorly because of it spines which it use as a self defence mechanism against predators.
The particular porcupine in this picture is named piper, it is a brazilian porcupine and from the reports i got she's quite smart.
Her keeper says she is the prettiest porcupine they have ever had and one of the sweetest and from the information i got piper made her modelling debut on the cover of natgeomagazine in the year 2016.
What a lovely animal she is....
