Yes Food and No Food for Gout Sufferer
It has been about four years, my mother-in-law was complaining of her pain. She felt a tremendous pain in the joints of her feet and hands, especially in the night and morning after sleep. After we took her to the doctor, she was diagnosed suffering gout.
Gout is a metabolic disease marked by a painful inflammation of the joints, deposits of urates in and around the joints, and usually an excessive amount of uric acid in the blood (merriam-webster.com)
Due to excessive weight, lately, my mother-in law could not be able to walk anymore. It's sad to see, she could only sit and sleep at home without doing anything.
Finally, my wife came to the conclusion that she needed a help. She cured her with food diet. Here you are the list of yes food and no food for her so far:
No Food:
- organ meat such as kidney, spleen, tripe, intestines, liver, lung and brain
- Seafood such as shrimp, squid, cuttlefish, clams, mussels, oysters, crabs, anchovies, and sardines.
- meat such as mutton, beef, lamb, pork and horse meat
- poultry such as chicken, ducks, geese and turkeys
- legumes such as soybeans, peanuts, green beans, bean sprouts
- certain vegetables such as cauliflower, spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, and kale
- certain fruits such as durian, pineapple and coconut
- fried or canned food
Yes Food:
- complex carbohydrates such as boiled cassava, sweet potatoes, whole wheat bread, oats, and brown rice.
- high potassium-containing foods such as potatoes, yogurt, and bananas
- fruit contains vitamin C, such as oranges, papaya and strawberries
- low fat or fat free dairy food such as cheese and ice cream
- sugar, sweets, and gelatin
- vegetables that are not mentioned in no food list
- fruits that are not mentioned in no food list
- egg and coffee (in moderation)
To make her not bored, my wife makes various menus based on the list. Yeah, the same menu during days will kill her appetite.
