"I love to take photos: My Black and white photography" by @hidayat96

Introducing my name is Hidayat96, I am from Indonesia and on this occasion I am here with the aim of participating in the contest organized by @madilyn02 and The theme of this contest is I love to take pictures: "My Black and White photography" and you can read the rules here.

One time, a friend commented to me like this, "Why no color?" The comment came out when he saw a black and white photo that I showed him. Hearing that comment I just smiled. "Black and white are also colors," I joked. For some people, black and white or BW photos are considered strange or even unattractive. But for me, black and white photos have their own uniqueness.

First, I was able to hide the shooting failure by converting it to black and white. I wanted to make a color photo, but because I failed, I finally converted the photo into a black and white photo. Take photo 1a for example. Actually the photo is not what I expected. I get a slightly flat sky. To make it appear as I expected it, I changed it to black and white. Be. Clouds that are slightly flat appear so that the impression becomes different from the original photo.

Compared to the original, it turns out there is a difference. In the original photo, there is no grain of sand, aka noise or grainy. But on the photo it appears. According to friends, noise in black and white photos is not something to be sorry for. The appearance of the noise can actually give its own effect. I call noise a sensual effect. Of course, each audience has their own point of view. Hihihihi. Can it be different.

To change this photo, I used a software tool. What I use is Photoshop. He said there are many software that can be used to correct a photo. The software can be downloaded for free or buy it.

The second way, is by setting the camera's picture style. If we look at the picture style, there are several menus. I just chose monochrome. The shots are already in black and white. I made this photo with the picture style setting monochrom. With this style, I have convenience because the photos are already black and white. I don't have to bother changing it anymore. At least with a little correction of the photo.

At first I was not familiar with black and white photos. "What's so interesting about black and white photos?" That's the question that often arises. Gradually, I felt there was something interesting about a black and white photo. Black and white photos are unique. The uniqueness is especially in the dark and light game. In my opinion, the uniqueness of this light and dark gradation is a strength in black and white photos. The game of light and dark gradations creates a depth so that the three dimensions appear. Photos become more powerful.

An example is photo 1d. This photo I took in a night crowd in the square. Using between my legs, I struggled to focus on one of the squatting people. Originally a color photo. After seeing the results I was moved to turn it into a black and white photo. The dark gradation created by the light source made this photo catch my eye. The depth of space created creates a different feel when I compare it to the original photo.

Are my photos really black and white? Please, don't ask that, okay? I'm still not sure about that myself. What I often think about is just removing the color. I often don't care: is it really black and white or is it still in the grays range. What I feel. Black and white is a matter of dark and light. About the level, I'm not too worried about it.

The more I learn to shoot the more I realize that the main key to photographing lies in the light. Unfortunately, that awareness is often forgotten. Even though he is aware, the aspret technique is still the mainstay. The result of back affairs is often a justification. I think the play of light is also important in a black and white photo. For example this photo 1e. The photo object gets light from the vent. The fall of the light created a dark play of light. The effect is, the object becomes more prominent without having to be afraid of losing detail on the object.

I think learning to take pictures is really fun. There's always something new that I get. Especially if you have met the photographers, it's awesome. Poison after poison was spread everywhere. If not ready, guaranteed klepek-klepek deh. Maybe, cooking is left behind in order to get a photo. But all of that is a process of developing abilities. It's not about the result, but it's a process that I have to go through to produce a better result. Gojlokan and criticism is a consequence that I have to face.
