Cassava is a staple crop in Africa, and there are several varieties that differ in terms of yield, disease resistance, and other characteristics. Here are some of the main types of cassava varieties found in Africa:

What are some post-harvest handling and processing techniques of cassava tubers?

Delayed post-harvest physiological deterioration (PPD). The estimated loss of cassava is nearly 1/3 of world wide harvest due to PPD. PPD symptoms starts within 24 hrs of harvesting. The roots become unfit for consumption within 2-3 days after harvest. An enzymatic, endogenous oxidative process is responsible for the PPD of cassava roots. Conventionally waxing of fresh cassava roots and poly bagging with suitable fungicides may relief to certain extent.
