RE: Oh, Say! Can You See? Management and Maintenance of Groupthink in the USA: The Flag

We Could Have Peace if We’re Not Careful Here

This is a scary thought. 😮
The post kind of reminds me of symbol worshipping in the Communist era when we had to salute our 'leader' every morning before the beginning of classes and every afternoon before going home. Only the ironic thing is that now it is done by the country that used to be the most fierce opponent of that regime.

Sort:

It looks like it takes a few generations to turn things against the group who think their society into existence every day.

Of course, it is still happening here, in Europe, only (for) now it is more subtle, more inconspicuous, if you will. Which, if you think about it , is even more perverted. But just the other day I read that the Spanish government was planning to pass a law that would introduce content to primary schools aimed at reinforcing the (positive?) image of the monarchy and armed forces. They obviously need to improve the public standing after the recent ordeals in Catalunia. At lest in the US they do it symbolically, through the flag, here it will be worshipping the army and the great king directly.
