INDEPENDENT
Independent? It’s an illusion. Everyone is totally, 100% dependent for everything.
The air we breath, the food we eat, the sunlight, the water, other living beings for what they produce. cotton, corn….
Independent? “I’m independent”, the proud and arrogant choose to believe.
The only independence any of us ever have is to choose what type of dependency we will have.
And even that is limited to what we are qualified to have.
We can make a choice… depend on our own mind and senses for acquiring knowledge or depend on another source.
Choose drugs or choose alcohol, choose them both or choose neither.
Choose friends. Choose to not have friends.
Choose to eat or choose to fast.
And with all this ability to choose we can choose to think we are independent. It’s a joke.
If we are really independent, then prove it… stop breathing the air.
Going through this topic for a week now, dependency can have its own charm. Like in our youthful days, we could do nothing on our own, yet all the core essentials were taken care of. Even now, whenever I get sick, my parents treat me as though I am still a young boy. Having someone to depend on is a comfort in itself. I feel like I can only be truly independent in terms of monetary concerns, and even that is only partially true. Beyond that, you are also dependent on governments, banks, and in my case, my parents as well.

I am afraid I cannot let you know if I managed to this. Nu the way, breathing air is something natural, being a parasite and depend on others to the level you ruin them is a different story. Also, I do believe that the average human could depend more on his/her own creativity and confidence, instinct instead of someone else'ske theainstream media and governments. Those who can will for sure feel more indwpent which is a good thing. If we all sit down and wait to be saved simply with the idea no matter what we do we are never independent the world will for sure fall apart (not that it doesn't already). ☹️

Wouldn’t someone who renounces everything, who lives alone in a remote wilderness, limiting themselves to the bare essentials for survival – water, a little food, shelter – be independent? Hmmm. That’s quite a thought you’ve put forward. If true independence doesn’t actually exist – what is it we’re striving for so desperately?

Ah yes, being an individual is also incredibly difficult... But what I actually meant was: if we were to completely renounce any aspirations beyond the bare necessities of life – would that be true independence? Or does life itself already make us dependent?
Oh. I see. I have heard that there are yogis who desire to become completely independent to the point where they simply merge with the energetic source of everything. Way beyond sensual perception and the mind. Just energy. They desire to give up even their sense of individuality and there is no need for independence or dependence if they merge. It's a kind of suicide out of frustration caused by the sufferings of birth and death old age and disease. and not being able to control without interference from others or the elements, etc. So taking the desire for freedom even to the nth degree nonexistence.... as an entity... simply merged with the totality of energic source.. there is still no real independence. As I see it. There is no getting away from dependent. The yogi is dependent on something to merge with.... It's just who we are.. Parts of something bigger.... Thanks for the discussion... making me dig deep...

It looks like the question is "What is it that WE ARE ALL a part of and dependent on?" That leads to spirituality and higher planes of existence. A great way to spend life... searching out the answer to this.
