Walking And Mining // Actifit - Getting Healthy & Wealthy :D
Hi There SteemVerse Friends,
I am trying to work on 10k steps everyday. This is so I dont have to go on cholesterol meds. Doc has given me 6 months to fix it.
I decided to take a walk to the kids' school. I noticed many things around me that I had not when I drive. But the walk isn't very conducive for pedestrians. There is one traffic light that the cars and bikes sometimes would ignore the red light. There is a stretch with a single lane but sometimes cars try and squeeze past the slower ones making it two lanes and during peak hours, it becomes two lanes even though it isn't.
Also walked past a stretch that could be hazardous if you are not looking down or walking in the dark. The manhole covers were all missing. This has been a problem here for some time now. Apparently the drug addicts would steal these to sell off to feed their habits.
The weather started out really hot. Halfway it threatened to rain. And it was hot again by the time I got home. That is all within 60 minutes. Would I do this again? I think it would depend on the weather which is unpredictable, and funnily this was never a consideration when I was younger. We didn't even own a car until I was almost 20 and we pretty much relied on public transport if we couldn't just walk it. Unfortunately public transport in most parts of the city isn't very reliable.
How much do you walk? What do you consider before that walk? What is public transport like in your place? Would like to know :)

I do not have high cholesterol, but I wrote this post on fitinfunfood recently for people who do:

My info is all about food, and I hope it helps. I would love to know if you have additional or different info. I did not know exercise was part of the treatment.
Do you know your numbers and have goals? As far as I know there are two numbers and mine are both so low they think they are a mistake. I have not looked in years though.
This is why it took so long to diagnose my heart. All possible numbers that they check on me are very low, so they were not supposed to be a problem. Then later "All the numbers are low because she is almost dead." lol.
I have only walked and used public transport for most of my life. I've had cars few times and prefer not to. I like to be out in the world when I am out in it.
The roads are a challenge in all of SE Asia but I like them and I am highly entertained unless exhausted of carrying heavy stuff. I definitely have to pay attention and watch my every step. So far, so good.
My reading is 6.8
He did say diet and exercise but more so exercise
I was a bit numb and didn't ask the questions
Both my parents have had a by-pass
Both my parents were labourers so I would say not a sedentary lifestyle at all
My brother doesn't take sugar, is careful with what he eats and runs for exercise and still had a higher reading than normal....
One of the reasons why I went to check and true enough
We are thinking for us it is hereditary
thank you for the link, will go check it out .... :)
I managed with public transport until the kids. In fact, I have tried going back to public transport every now and then... The railway line within walking distance for me is unreliable. KTM. And yet I have tried several times, but depending on where I work, sometimes the time taken and the cost just doesn't make sense. And there's where we are at.
Thank you Sharon, for coming by. And for taking the time read and comment. Loved reading it :)
So much life to experience if we walked more! Such a beautiful tour! I have fond memories of walking home from school and the people I would meet along the way.

I have good memories of walking too
Sadly it is not done much anymore...
And then we wonder why our health suffers haha
Yes, I realised that the walk was actually quite pleasant though it was a bit of a hot day
How could you make it that smooth???? Gimbol??? and dang gotta start using actifit myself XD I'm so lazy to move.
Hey spoken like a true video creator hahaha
This is one of my biggest pet peeves..
When my video is too shaky which of course happens when you walk and talk
I used the stabiliser in the editor
The only thing with that is it will zoom in some to fix it, so you hope for the best once it has done it's magic :)
Oh! I use that one myself too!
Wow, that is a shame about the manhole covers! Great video though!
Hi @zainenn
Yeah, because they are made of iron, they get looted
And then there are all these gaping holes in the ground
Thank you so much :D
I was wondering how come my feed wasn't giving me any of your videos and just went to check...
You must be busy....
Yup! There really are lots of things we "see" when we walk, that we tend to not notice whilst driving. @actifit also helped me see them. Hehe

Trust me Jade, you are already clocking it in with the housework.... don't believe me.... try it :)
Thank you .... it's an ultimatum kinda thing... sadly I am in the majority who wait for something like this to do something .... and I dislike meds... :)
Indeed lovely walk to explore the surrounding which we understand of miss when driving...thanks for taking me along with some nice views. And you being lucky too..with that coin.👌
