Just a morning run

in #fitness4 years ago

My run today was just a simple morning run. I’ll be honest that I don’t do enough of these types of steady runs. I am a very coachable athlete and prefer to have someone telling me when to push, when to back off and when to stop. I’ve found the apps that get me cranking hard. But this morning I thought I would just run. I decided to turn on some tunes and also try an inspirational, thinking “coached” run through the Nike Run Club App. Four minutes in I was completely annoyed with the “thought provoking” questions being asked by the coach so I turned him off and just let the tunes and my body set the tone and pace for the run. I ended up running this 3.77 mile at a 9.11 pace without really feeling gassed. To be honest, if I hadn’t had two little kiddos and a hubby waiting on me to get the day started, I could have gone for much longer.

What I found interesting about this steady state run was that I ended with a faster average pace than I normally do in my HIIT coached runs using the Faster app. Guess my body can do more on its own than I give it credit.

Already looking forward to my next steady state run. Who knows, maybe one of these days my average will break through to the 8 minute zone!

Here are the stats for the run...
