Cook's set: "Apron and hat" | | Las 3R-S30W4
Week 4 of the reduce - reuse - recycle challenge
It's been a wonderful three weeks. We have: reduced, reused, and recycled. And although this is very little on the entire planet, it is a great step in our homes and our consciences.
♻️ During week 1, we started with some beautiful placemats for use in the kitchen:

♻️ During week 2, we made a beautiful, practical and useful bracelet-style keychain:

The reduce-reuse-recycle challenge is undertaken to:
- To motivate you to make practical and useful pieces for your home.
- Reuse any scrap or piece of fabric to give your materials a second chance.
- Recycle ♻️ and become a more conscious person about caring for our planet.
- Develop patience, coordination, creativity, and even logical-mathematical calculations.
- Discover your manual skills.
Let's begin with our week 4 activity in season 30.

We make a chef's set: hat and apron
We will complete this activity in 07 steps:
Step 1: We made the chef's hat. I started by making my pattern to create my hat. We made the chef's hat. To make the pattern you will need: paper, measuring tape, ruler, pencil and a French curve.

Step 2: . With the pattern materials ready, I began tracing. I started by making a rectangle 6.6 inches x 12.5 inches (32 cm x 17 cm)In one corner I raise it 1.9 inches (5cm) and also insert it inside the rectangle.
Next, I transfer this measurement to the upper margin. From this marked point, he drew a straight line to the end of the rectangle. On that line I look for the midpoint and go up 0.5 inches (1.5cm) and join the three points with a smooth curve.
From this curve upwards we go up again 4.7 inches (12 cm) and take 1.18 inches (3 cm) out of the rectangle, and we join with a smooth curve.
I also mark a 4.7 inch (12 cm) circle on a sheet of paper. This way we now have the pattern for the hat.

Step 3: The next step was selecting the fabric. I used fabric from one of my son's old shirts. I assembled the patterns and cut them out.

Step 4: Sew the hat. I started by gluing the front and back pieces of my hat together. I did it with a French seam. Then I added a bias cut to the edge that will go on the forehead. Then I divided the circle into 4 pieces. I pinned them and sewed them. And there I had my chef's hat ready.

This is how our cook set turned out, made with recycled materials 🤩😍👍🏽. Ahora vamos con el delantal:
Step 5: To make the apron, I used a pair of old jeans. I cut off only the back part to make the apron. I gave it a rectangular shape with rounded corners. I also used another part of the pants to make the top part of the apron. The shape of this piece was like a trapezoid.

Step 6: Using a used shirt, I cut out the pieces for the hat and had some left over for the apron accessories. I cut 3.9 inch (10 cm) pieces with which I made the ruching on the edges.I also cut bias strips to make bias tape, which I placed on the hat and on the top of the apron.

Step 7: Once I had everything ready, I started joining the pieces I had placed around the bottom. Then I joined the two pieces that make up the apron. I made strips to place on top, to tie around the neck, and strips to tie around the waist. And so the apron was ready too.

I haven't sewn with my hands in a long time. But this certainly will get me busy.
This is tough for me 😭
