SC-S29_W1- Nostalgia Of The Liitle Me _ Games we used to play_20260112_043824_0000.png

Greetings friends. I'm lunasilver from Venezuela 🇻🇪.

I was thrilled to read that this new season would feature a challenge like the one proposed by our friend @sohanurrahman. Perhaps this challenge will be a bit more difficult for me, because I am a 52-year-old woman.

However, I am achieving my dream of becoming a teacher, and a teacher always has time to teach through play. My energy is less than before, but enthusiasm and imagination still drive me. As a child, I discovered and shared games with my siblings, cousins, and neighbors. We always got together during vacation time to play and have unforgettable moments. When the games were over.

My childhood games

There were many games, but I want to describe the ones I really liked:

  • Spinning top: It's a toy made up of a stick and a hollow part, joined by a string. They came in wood and plastic (melamine) versions; the latter were more popular. I liked it a lot because, At recess, they competed to see who could make the most throws the fastest.

  • Kite or kites: It's a toy that rises into the sky. It's made with reed, string, and paper. There are many shapes. I loved making one shaped like a spinning top. It was wonderful to watch it disappear into the sky. We attach small blades called "crucero" to the tails of the parrots, to cut the string of any parrot near ours.

  • Jumping rope: I used to do it with my brothers. Sometimes there were two or three of us. While we did it, I would sing a song and act out the movements while jumping. The song was called "little bear." And it would say: little bear, go inside now, little bear, touch the floor, little bear, hop on one foot, little bear, turn around, little bear, you're out now. It was super fun.

  • Top: is a wooden or plastic toy that is wrapped around itself, and then released forcefully so that it spins.

I also played marbles, Yaqui, hopscotch, and jump rope. And with some car parts called "rollers," we made little cars to launch down the hill. It was pure adrenaline. Unfortunately, I don't have any personal photos of those games of mine... But, on the internet I found images of my traditional games and made a collage with all of them.

Thinking about it, each of these games cultivates my creativity, problem-solving skills, coordination, persistence, and a lot of creativity. Also, competitiveness, because in each game I always wanted to be the best. That's why, as a teacher, I always try to promote these games. To motivate children to be active, to get some sun and fresh air. To experience those feelings of accomplishment and camaraderie.

Many years have passed since my childhood. But that flame in my heart to keep alive the love for the traditional games I played in my childhood remains intact.

Outdoor play is always good for our health. Why? Because we get sunshine, we sweat, we walk barefoot, we breathe deeply, and we drink plenty of water. All of this gives us health and energy.

Another thing my brothers and I used to do was jump on our parents' bed. There was a window with bars in their room. I would escape by squeezing through them. She climbed the bars until she was trapped between them because she had grown so much. My mom got a terrible fright. She climbed the bars until she was trapped between them because she had grown so much. My mom got a terrible fright. Ah, those were the days, simple and wonderful.

That's why seeing this challenge really encouraged me to participate. I know many people have experiences to share, so I'm inviting @adriancabrera, @controlcold,@yahnel and @sariana, a participar en este maravilloso reto. Les dejo las indicaciones por aquí 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

Greetings,

Thank you so much for participating in the contest. Reading about your childhood gaming experiences also brought back many memories of my own childhood. You reminded me of so many beautiful moments, especially jumping on the bed, which is very exciting and fun for children, although it can be a bit risky.

Some of the games you enjoyed during your childhood are also among my favorites, which made your story even more relatable. As a teacher, you have my sincere respect.

I am really happy to know that you encourage children to stay active and energetic. I wish you all the very best.
