India captain Suryakumar Yadav elected to bowl after winning the toss in the match played at Srimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Liton Das hit a four off Arshdeep Singh right off the bat but was dismissed on the very next ball. The other opener Eamon gave a bit of a good start but fell victim to Arshdeep with 8 runs off 9 balls.

Bangladesh's batting line-up could not survive against the Indian bowling attack, which posed a big challenge for the team.

At the end of half over Bangladesh team was batting after losing 5 wickets for 70 runs. At the crease, captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto was batting with 26 runs, his partner Mehdi Hasan Miraj. The Bangladesh team was struggling to bat against the Indian bowlers, and losing early wickets slowed down their innings as well.

The Bangladeshi batsmen came under pressure in the face of the sharp bowling attack of Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya. In particular, the openers lost wickets helplessly in front of Arshdeep's accurate length and outswinging balls.

In the middle overs, the onus was on Shanto and Mirage to play the big innings for the team, who were trying to settle down on the wicket. By then, pressure was mounting on the Bangladesh scoreboard, as the initial upset was not getting any easier.

The innings posed a tough challenge for the team, with the Indian bowlers picking up wickets at regular intervals.
