DAM at CARMANS RIVER
Took my kayak to Carmans River launch site by Montauk Highway. River flows under 4 lane divided "Sunrise Highway"then under 2 lane Victory Avenue. On the other side of the Avenue the river is dammed with an overflow. You can reach the overflow with a kayak paddling through the tunnel under the roads.

We just went under the 4 lane divided highway. It was very clean, smooth cement ceiling and walls, no spiderwebs.
Now we are headed for the 2 lane road.
This is all fresh water behind the dam. On this side it becomes brackish and saltier were the river empty's in the Great South Bay.
A look back where we came from.
Lol thank goodness for no spider webs down there @manorvillemike these were some really good pictures.
Thanks @simonjay. Have to get a strap for the camera so I don't lose this one. :-)
Wow, you can see water all around you! ! And the weather is really good!
Nice adventure @manorvillemike. If you could have made a small video, it would have been spectacular; but, I imagine that being inside a kayak, it is extremely difficult.
Greetings.
Exactly ... :-)
It seems like a farakkabad
Great experience.
Beautiful paddlewithme *you :-)
That is sure a nice looking place!
Love the tunnel shots!!
Seen a video about ''wall walking''
boats through tight tunnels in
England, not sure where
what video that was now lol
I've never kayaked but canoed
long ago. Are kayaks more stable?
Your wonderful paddle with you's
are making me want one! Lots
of water places up here, but its
really cold water and I'd sure not
want to tip over! lol
Very stable. =Getting in and out tricky for old people like me. I just got it a few weeks ago.,This was my 2nd time out. It's great in calm water. There are solid ones they use in the ocean. Check them out ask around. Much better than a canoe.
Can we say there's light at the end of the tunnel?
Ha ha ... and spiders.
Looks awesome!
Was nice clean fun. :-)
