Corvo is the smallest island in the Azores archipelago, it has a land area of only 17.1 square kilometers and a population of around 400 people. The island is of volcanic origin and has a rugged terrain with steep cliffs and a small deep valley. Despite its small size, Corvo is known for its stunning natural beauty and unique biodiversity. The island is also home to several important bird species. One of the main characteristics that distinguishes the landscape of this small island are the traditional windmills that have become a symbol of the island's rich history and cultural heritage. These windmills are one of the most recognizable landmarks on Corvo, and they have played an important role in the island's economy and way of life for centuries.

The windmills on Corvo are typically made of stone or wood, they were traditionally used to grind grain into flour, which was a vital resource for the island's inhabitants.
