Assalamu Alaikum friends. Today I am here to participate in a wonderful Steemit challenge competition organized by @ninapenda. The Topic of this challenge is SLC-S28/W5-"Local Taste, Global Twist!"| Cultural Fusion Challenge!. So let's get started.

Which two (or more) cuisines did you combine? Tell us why you chose those cuisine as you share the processes.

Cooking is a hobby of people in Bangladesh. Of course, eating and drinking is important for livelihood, but healthy cooking is useful for us. Although I do not cook all the time, I had to cook only for this competition. However, I did both dishes together, which was an advantage for me. Initially, soft khichuri was cooked in our house, which is just dry rice khichuri. No additional spices or non-vegetarian or vegetarian food were added here.

I named this recipe Colorful Fried Rice with Bangladeshi Khichuri. Here I have chosen different chicken and mango and I have mixed two different cultures to see what kind of taste the two combinations give. Initially, khichuri was cooked for this, which did not have any ingredients mixed in it. Later, I added chicken and some other ingredients in it, which created a combination of two different cultures. The steps for making it are shown below.

List of Required Materials ✅

  • Rice

  • Spices

  • Chickpea boat

  • Beans

  • Oil

  • Coriander

  • Green pepper

  • Onion leaves

  • Step-1 :- First, I lightly cooked khichuri, which was a mixture of rice and lentils. I cooked the khichuri in a dry way and took it out on a plate.

  • Step-2 :- Now I took the required quantity of chickpeas and beans. Then I boiled those two items in hot water.

  • Step-3 :- Now I chopped the coriander leaves, onion leaves and chillies into pieces. Then I fried them in hot oil in a pan on the stove for a while.

  • Step-4 :- Here I added some spices and salt. Then I poured the cooked khichdi little by little into the pan. Now I mixed all the items.

  • Step-5 :- I increased the heat a little bit and stirred the khichdi well. I fried it until it became slightly firm. Here you have to stir a lot with a spoon. Now I stirred it with the cooked chicken. A small amount of chicken should be added here because if you add too much, the khichdi will not be fried.

  • Step-6 :- I combined two cultures into one item. Once it was cooked, I let it sit in a bowl for a while to get the perfect shape. Then I placed it on a plate of fried rice.

  • Step-7 :- A perfect combination of khichdi mixer made with beans, chickpeas and chicken meat. I put it on a colorful fried rice plate and wrote the details of the competition on a piece of paper. I presented it in front of everyone.

What made you think the combination would work well together?

I already thought that this Khichuri Fried Rice recipe would work well. It is one of our favorite dishes in Bangladesh. Everyone from village to city loves Khichuri. Usually, dry Khichuri is eaten with a different meat curry.

But I thought that if I mix some other ingredients in it and cook it, it will make a perfect combination. So I fried some other ingredients including meat in the dry Khichuri for a while. When it gradually colored, I thought that it would make a perfect combination and work. Since it is a combination recipe made with two different recipes. So I thought that it would work already. To make the recipe more special, I added coriander leaves paste.

Since I made this recipe in a very simple way, I did not face any obstacles. However, I noticed a lot of things while making this recipe. To make a combination recipe, you must have a plan in advance. Here, I first cooked the khichdi which was completely dry. On the other hand, I collected the cooked chicken separately. Then I mixed the two items step by step as per the plan.

However, one small thing I noticed is that when I mixed the chicken in the khichdi, I was skeptical whether the two different recipes would taste the same. However, later, it was mixed in the stove fire and a perfect combination was created. I had boiled the peas and chickpeas beforehand so that they mixed properly in the fried rice. Finally, its output was excellent.

How do you think the flavors you used represent unity in diversity?

Here I have tried to make a recipe in a very simple way where there is a mixture of two different cultures. However, these dishes are deeply related to each other. The flavors I have used represent unity in diversity according to the way I have combined them. Each dish has a different taste. The taste of the food you will make from your mind will be incomparable.

I have made this recipe in a very simple way and presented it to you, but here I have modified it from a simple khichuri with several ingredients and made colorful fried khichuri. The combination of two different dishes has created a relationship between the diversity of the food. If you wish, you can try such items at home in a very short time with few ingredients.

One thing to remember is that adding more ingredients and spices will not enhance the taste of the food. The taste of the food will only enhance when you cook it with the perfect combination. For this, you need to be patient and attentive. I made this recipe with my younger brother from my own knowledge. Finally, I shared this recipe with everyone. They were very happy to test this recipe. That is why I have presented this recipe to you so that you can also try it.

শীতের সকালে এরকম এক প্লেট গরম গরম খিচুড়ি হলে ব্রেকফাস্ট যে কারো পার্ফেক্ট এনজনেবল হবে।
