Ch1 Jessica (Rabbit) has entered the Lion’s Den – Wolf’s Den – of her own accord and is neck-deep in her greatest desire (Be careful what you wish for).

Ch2 Red is speaking to a Wolf she knew from long ago and has been astonished once by his revelation.

Ch3 Jessica is in over her head, no other human in sight and is bouncing from one encounter to the next - including in the dream-state.

Ch4 Jessica has an interview with the 'Big Boss', finds out she has a mentor - not Paul, and is the cause for disquiet among the Werewolves. All fun and games - at least she knows that if anyone goes against the orders and takes her as prey, they will be seriously reprimanded...

When he had finished recounting his tale he waited for a while as she thought, but then he made an observation. “You seem troubled Sentinel, have I done something to cause you worry?”

“No, not you Phelan. The girl seems to be a Throwback and it would be in our best interests if we find her, and please, you may use my name rather than my title if you wish.” She tapped her long nails on the polished table top as she pondered her latest problem. “Do you think that you could find her?”

“Find who? The other girl?” he seemed puzzled at her request and thought about it for a second or two. “I dare say I could, Red, especially if it is important to you.”

She nodded again. “It could well be.” She stood up and waited for Phelan to realise that she meant ‘now’ and then they left together, through the same door they had entered by. There was not a trace of his victims left, the yard was shiny and wet and a faint but distinct smell of antiseptic which had been used to wash the blood away lingered but that was all.

Phelan offered his arm to his companion in a gallant gesture, not a familiar one. She took it and allowed him to set the pace of their walk. He showed her where he had been watching from, pointing up to the very top of the viaduct, and then where he had met with the three women.

Instead of retracing his steps back to the club, he disengaged his arm from Red’s and scented the air. He had a fair idea which way she had fled because he had looked back to give her his toothy grin, and all he needed to do was to catch the aroma of the adrenalin that he had induced in her. That smell would be strongest where she had received the adrenalin boost as he scared her with his smile.

He smiled again as he caught the scent and he indicated the direction he wanted to take. They followed the scent to a car park and there, as Red had feared, he lost it.

“She must have had her car waiting. She – or one of them – mentioned that she was not drinking so I assume that she was the designated driver.”

“Did you catch her name?”

“Yes, she was called...” he searched his memory banks for the name. “Syl. Yes, Callie and Leigh... and Syl.”

“At least it is an unusual name. Hopefully it will prove relatively easy to trace. How old was she?”

“Ah, now that is more difficult. She could have been sixteen or twenty, I do not know.”

“If she was driving, she had to be at least seventeen and probably older.” Red said, and Phelan just nodded. “She will probably check on her friends early in the morning if she is as worried as you say she was.”

“And when they have not returned by tomorrow afternoon, she will discount the theory that they stayed with me.”

“I can possibly get some contact in the Police to leak information to me on anyone that reports those two as missing, but I would rather not have to call in any favours.” Red thought out loud.

They heard a car pulling into the car park just then and both instinctively ducked into the shadows.

“I don’t believe this, of all the dumb luck,” Phelan said, amazed. “That’s her.”

The two Wolves watched as the girl behind the wheel parked the car in the same place as it had been before. They waited with a patience borne of experience and watched as she fidgeted and worried. Just as Red was about to approach the car, the girl got out and looked all around her before she closed the door and locked it using the remote which made Phelan and Red wince because the high-pitched electronic sound hurt their ears. Then she set off to try to find her friends.

Red allowed Syl to make her way towards town, to the last place she had seen her friends. Then Red cloaked her Wolfness well – just in case – and approached the girl. Syl walked right past Red, and only gave her a glance, and so Red could take a guess that either the cloaking was effective or the Throwback was too anxious to detect the Wolf about her.

The girl passed by Red and obviously discounted her as a threat and Red took advantage of the underestimation.

She checked for CCTV cameras – there were none in the vicinity – then she grabbed the girl from behind and with one hand over her mouth and the other around her neck, Red pulled the girl off-balance and dragged her, struggling for all she was worth, into an alley swathed in shadow and as she went, she kicked open a partly rotted gate that blocked her way.

Red? from the very beginning of the story? Humm gotta go check. Ah yes, Ryan chapter7, the reverse aging. humm a little bit more of the Ancient wolf story and what happened to Sebastion story upcoming? And of course more on the throwback, why all of a sudden after centuries? Oh man my mind is getting twisted in the possible outcomes, great story telling.

Sebastian happened in Book 1 I'm afraid.

Throwbacks aren't suddenly occurring, that's why Sentinels are in great demand... they're all over the place :)

Many congrats on completing your novel. Looking forward to read it. Amazing title, it really attracted me towards it.

I've been toggling, searching for a story on wolves. I think this what I'm looking for. Despite it is fictional, i see it as it really happening. I love to read about fictional stories especially werewolves, negative energies - Ghosts, demons etc though I barely write on them. I'm actually looking for a mentor to follow so I'll be able to build my knowledge. Good job @Michelle.agent

Fictional?

My stories? ;)

I hope you enjoy them :)
