What is meant by language? Define language in your own words.

Throughout the history of man, language has been one of the most critical aspect of man's existence. Taking our bearing from the bible, Genesis 1:1 says: let there be light. This let's us into the first scenario when an aspect of language was used. As much as other historical and religious accounts may have diverse opinion on the first expression of language, i would not go into that in this article.

Language then is any act performed between two entities with communication being the end goal. This act may be inform of spoken or written words, sounds, signs/symbols, even facial expressions.
In contemporary times, languages equally holds greater importance as It establishes the means of communication between individuals, communities, an the world at large. Most notable is the use of radio waves and infrared waves to send messages through space.

In the world today, language plays an important roles in communication,it help to make things easy for the individuals,so various countries, community, tribe have their languages for communication like English,french, Spanish, Italian, Swahili etc
Various culture have their beliefs,their ways of life,their language and its their symbol which makes it unique and understanding to them.

How language connects an individual to his family,glob or specific socieity.

Language connecting tool that deepens relationship ties are as follows:-

1. Deeper understanding.
2. Intra-denominational bonding.
3. Unity.

Deeper understanding: there's usually a more intense sense of comprehension that sometimes go beyond the spoken words between individuals of same linguistic origin. A man goes abroad and finds himself amidst people of a strange language begins to feel the discomfort in the rigor of communication, but as soon as he can find another individual that understands his language, a bond is mediately formed, which comes almost certainly with sort of joy. This is to say, where there's accurate communication and understanding, there's always a more intense bond and positive human emotions like joy and happiness. This is why most individuals are more intimate with their family members and immediate community, since their communication goes beyond what is expressed verbally but also through body language. This provides a deeper sense of understanding beyond the words that anyone can speak.

Intra-denominational bonding: Individuals of same cultural and linguistic origin tend to find Intimacy faster. Most families bond better since communication is done through languages peculiar to the family, for instance a family or a home that lack communication can't bond, do you know why I said that? Because communication is a tools for Bonding, it help to make the cord waxed strong.

Language helps to unite, unity is a strong force for language that is, once the society or family understand the language signs or communication it brings intimacy and once they are United the group or family will speak with one voice.

Which is yours mother tongue? and which languages ​​are spoken and understood in your home other than your mother tongue?

I'm from Nigeria precisely Delta state warri South local government and am from a small tribe called the Itsekiri, itsekiri language is my mother tongue. In my house we do speak itsekiri, English language which is the general language for Nigerians, Pidgin English which is popularly known for the delta people particularly the wafi people(warri people).

How many languages ​​do you know and how did you learn more than one language?

Apart from my mother language, English language, I learnt another language in school called Yoruba, these language is from the western tribe of nigeria and they are part of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria.

In which language did you study in school to university and which language do you prefer in the education system in your country and why?

I schooled in a Yoruba land ogun state nigeria, my school is a state school, olabisi onabanjo university Ago-iwoye Nigeria, so majorly when the lecturers are teaching, they speak English but sometimes speak Yoruba forgetting that it's not everyone in the class that understand Yoruba, so I was forced to learn it..
In the educational system of Nigeria today English language is the major language spoken while the various part like the northern part dominated by the Muslims, Hausa is been taught in school as a subject/course alongside English, same as the southern part which are River,Delta,Edo,Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa ibom state, English is been taught along side with their various mother's tongue. Same as the Eastern part the Igbo, English is been taught alongside Igbo and lastly the western part the Yorubas, English is been taught alongside English too. So I love it this way because it will make the individual familiar with their mother tongue and also make another tribe schooling in another state learn various language.

How one language or more than one languages plays an important role in the development of society.?

I believe in unity in diversity, multiple languages can help unite society together for instance ijaw tribe learning itsekiri culture or Igbo tribe learning Yoruba culture. It will equally bring oneness but if everyone stick with their language not wanting to associate there lies the problem.
Learning more than one languages help to unite and build the society because it's the act of bringing ideas and believes together to make it work/stand.

How does culture relate to language?

Language portrays culture of any society, culture and Language can't be separated because they are connected intimately.
Culture is the beliefs,way and behavior of an individuals or a society. That is to say learning any language equally means learning their conduct and their cultural ethics.
Culture and Language has an identical relationship, they are intertwined. Culture is been communicated through language.
So therefore language refer to culture and it helps to shows the value and cultural belief and using of any word is precious to a language and its bonding with culture.
Like it was said by someone

"Language is culture and culture is language "

They are one and they can't be separated.

Would you like to prefer writing in your own language at the time of writing posting on steemit, if yes why and if not why not?

I don't prefer writing in my mother tongue because it's not everyone that understand itsekiri language language involves understanding,unity and intra-denomitional bonding as stated earlier, so if the message am passing across to the general public is not understood definitely we can't bond or unity and it will bridge communication... that's why I can't write in my language except for English language because it can be translated by all.

If you want to promote your language in the world, how will you do it? and if you already done, then how much success have you achieved?

• Firstly if am to promote language in the society, is to create awareness on the importance of language.

• Educate the public on language speaking, not just educating alone but also practice it for them to follow.
