• Avoid sunlight: When going out, avoid between 11 am and 4 pm, when the sun is at its strongest.
• Stay in the shade: When outdoors, try to stay in a shaded area.
• Use cold water: Take regular cold showers or baths. Wash face and neck with cold water.
Stay hydrated:
• Drink plenty of water: Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, even if you're not thirsty.
• Drink electrolyte-rich drinks: Drink ORS, coconut water, or other electrolyte-rich drinks.
• Eat liquids: Eat liquids like soups, fruit juices, and yogurt.
Clothing:
• Wear light, cotton clothing: Avoid dark-colored clothing, which traps heat.
• Wear loose clothing: Wear loose clothing to help your body breathe and stay cool.
• Wear a hat: Wear a hat while going out.
Food:
• Eat light food: Avoid fried or spicy food.
• Eat fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables provide plenty of vitamins, minerals and fiber that will help you
stay healthy.
• Drink low-calorie drinks: Avoid soda and other sugary drinks.
Other Tips:
• Exercise regularly: Do light exercise in the morning or evening.
• Get enough sleep: Get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
• Avoid drinking and smoking: Drinking and smoking can dehydrate you and make your body produce more heat.
• Be careful: The elderly, children and chronically ill people are more vulnerable to environmental hazards of heat. Check on them regularly and encourage them to drink plenty of water.
