Shining light in the midst of darkness

in Christian Fellowship4 years ago

In these difficult times where our newsfeeds and media are full of negative news around the impact of the coronavirus, and the sad cases we see of hoarding, selfishness and blame. It's refreshing to see some positive news.

This is exactly what I got when scrolling through my Facebook feed the other day. I came across this Well written post by Cari Myers:

"For the man who took a cart full of toilet paper, then rolled around the store handing it out to the elderly who had none...

For the landlord who has committed to not evict anyone over the next few months...

For the grocery stores holding special shopping hours for the elderly...

For the doctor who moved into his family’s garage apartment so he will remain healthy and able to tend the sick...

For the musicians, singers, and comedians offering free performances online...

For the pastors who cancelled gatherings early and are learning how to meet the needs of their flocks from a distance...

For the property owner who asked the small business to pay employees over rent...

For the teachers holding impromptu video conferencing for struggling students (and parents) at home...

For the celebrities agreeing to informal, impromptu Zoom meetings with fans ...

For the students who cancelled spring break trips and chose to stay home...

For the friends who are texting and asking what I need before they run to the store and share what they find...

For you I am deeply, daily grateful. You are what is giving us hope in this crisis. Thank you for showing all of us we are capable of great neighbor love, and capable of greatness."

The coronavirus is terrifying to some extent, but it's also an opportunity for us to shine some light into the darkness, and show how love can triumph.

Let's try to be a blessing to someone today.
