RE: Why Steemit Isn't Growing -- IMO

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

Your comment @ourfreesociety has intrigued me - HOW on earth this can be ???
This sound so abnormal !

And it took me maybe 10 seconds to find out, what really happened ( sure it will take 100x as much time to make screenshots and explain my findings in detail)
First - go to https://steemworld.org/@ourfreesociety
Then - to DELEGATIONS tab on the left.

And here is your whole long history in one picture:

Your account was created on 2017-08-28 by @timcliff, with 31 SP delegation from him.
After 3 weeks he reduced this to 11.89 SP
And finally, after FOUR long month, he took all his delegated SP back. This is very natural, and could be expected. None ( most) of the delegations last forever.
So after FOUR month you been left alone with only 1.7 your own Steem-Power. Which practically is NOTHING.
It is nothing not only now, after HF20, but probably was even before HF20.
This TINY SP ( 1.7) could easy face of bandwidth problems.

As I see it all - there is however nobody to blame. In FOUR month most steemians , even with fair/low activity, can gain more then 1.7 SP.
Well , if this is too much - everyone can PURCHASE it. And you need not much $, probably even less than typical Friday drink ( or meal - if this hurts you)

There we come to another problem, in terminology. You say:

...WTH, why do I need to spend money?

This is WRONG. When buying Steem, and converting to SP - you are NOT spending your money. You are only converting your money into a different form ( different currency)
This money remains YOURS ! Yours all the time ( off course, as long , as you keep your passwords safe)

But looking further - I see even this (purchase) maybe was not much required.
You have idling 1.057 liquid STEEM and 5.186 SBD.
Just convert them to SP , and you go from 1.79 SP to ~ 8+ own Steem Power.
You can more than QUADRUPLE it in no time, just a few mouse clicks.

Sort:

@onealfa - thanks for this.

So when someone delegates, they eventually take the money back from you?

I FINALLY converted my SD into Steem, although I think I'm waiting for the market to buy from me.

I get what you are saying re: just converting it to another type of currency, but right now we can't use Steem to buy anything, so that really isn't correct : )

Is there any way to get off of Tim's account at some point?

I hope you are having a good wknd.

Steem, steempower Is like stocks, bonds, gold bulion, diamonds. It you buy them, it is still your property. But you can not go and pay with them for your daily bred and milk. It is wealth, still yours, just in another form.

Yes, but we all assume those things will increase in value so down the road we can sell them & make money LOL

Delegation is not a donation. When someone delegates SP, he still remains an owner of that SP. And he can pull back his delegated SP any time, when he finds suitable. No questions asked. You as receiver of delegation can do nothing about this. Sure you talk to the owner, say him thank you, and maybe convice him to prolong his delegation for some time longer. No more.
Delegation is not permanent. Owner is a boss all the time. Otherwise who would delegate ?

Ok, I get it now. I thought it was a gift.
