The Kitchen Contest
Hey Steem fam! So I have a sewer-plumber guy here in my apartment after the regular maintenance took one look at my kitchen sink and knew I needed a professional. The plumbing in this building is really borked. How borked?
-I've had more clogs and leaks than I can even remember. The wood on the bottom of the kitchen cabinet where the sink is is warped beyond all reason from how wet it's gotten
-I've had it rain inside my apartment when a pipe burst two stories up
-I've had the inlet to the toilet just pop off early one Sunday morning and start flooding my bathroom
-I've had the light on my balcony fill with water any time it rained for like the first year or so I lived here
-The paint on that wall still has a bubble INSIDE the apartment, the other side of the wall from said light
-I've seen water pouring out of a light fixture in the first level of garage
-We had the entire second level of garage fill with water to the ceiling during a flash flood
-The courtyard used to flood every time it rained until the city replaced the mains around the corner
-It used to be every time it rained, now only every time it's a bad rain, the pumping trucks are deflooding the garages
-If we use too much liquid laundry soap in the upper floors, the first floor gets flooded with suds
-Both my laundry washer and my dishwasher have been replaced because they sprung leaks
-Even after replacing, the dishwasher would have water flood it from the sink until very recently
...and that's just what comes to mind off the cuff. We need like feng shui intervention regarding the water, here.
Anyway, so here is the current state of my kitchen:
The plumber was cussing and walked out without a word for a few minutes, and then right after the maintenance guy came knocking looking for him because my neighbor - horizontal to me - now has water coming up out of his dishwasher.
Yeah, that's how borked the plumbing is.
A couple of years ago, my downstairs neighbor had this same procedure - snaking - done in her kitchen, and it came up into my pipes ABOVE her. The same is happening to this plumber working on mine now - it keeps going UP.
THAT'S how borked the plumbing is.
So let's have a contest!
Because why not? LOL
Show me the current state of your kitchen for a chance to win a share of @steembasicincome!

Best of luck with the water situation on your home @phoenixwren. I pray with water as a daily ritual morning and night. You could tune into the water in your unit and ask it what it needs. And, what you can do for it. Thanks for bringing this up as a matter of fact. I will journey to water in my ritual tonight and see what i come up with. ❄🐴😀🐒 Man! I love Steem basic income!! I'd love to enter your contest. Here's my kitchen. Pretty low key. I love everything about my home, including this precious kitchen ❄❤🏮🐖🐉🐷🔖🐽🎶❄

Water problems are not fun. We had to have our main water in pipe replaced after it broke one winter causing the yard to feel like a waterbed.
After the grass had regrown from that, a large amount of snow melted and the rest of the snow allowed it to flood under our house so we got the foundation redone and the yard re-sloped.
Tons of fun.
Here is our kitchen, in which we just replaced the faucet.
Oh my Gods I don't want to know how expensive all that work was!! 😵
Cool, thank you! And, yeah, it wasn't cheap.
ah man, what a disaster, plumbers always seem to scratch their heads....they just cant seem to figure out how to make water flow
He did finally get it to work after calling for advice, using a different machine, and cussing a lot. Lol

I'd show you some pics of my kitchen (rental property) but, it's too embarrassing...
1- Two holes in ceiling from leaking roof (ongoing for four or five years)
2- Cracked radiator
3- Worn/ripped linoleum
4- Moldy wall under one window from moisture seeping through from outside
5- Broken glass on door to porch
6- Oven which doesn't work any more (I use my own small covection oven)
7- Refrigerator just stopped working too... (Fortunately I had a small dormitory style spare) until owner/management co. gets around to replacing original one.
There is probably more that I can list if I go inspect it right now, but I need a nap... :~)
Thank you so much Phe; I get a kick out of your contests :~)
You're very welcome! And likewise. :)
Holy crap, you're renting and they won't fix that stuff? That's gotta be against landlord laws. :(
Don't be embarrassed, I didn't show you the piles of dirty dishes on the counters..

Yes, it 'is' against local Code; Code Inspectors used to inspect rental units every two years, until a local 'Judge' who is also a 'Landlord' became 'Mayor'... I guess he pressured the Codes Dept. to cut back on inspections as a payback to Rental Property owners who helped him get elected?
It's just par for the course in our political world.

Oh dear, that's terrible. My kitchen is very old and grey, it's done good service, but nowadays I wonder if it will last until I have saved up enough money to replace it!
Fortunately, I don't have any plumbing issues, a few floods over the years with burst pipes (boiler and bath) or the stop cock broke, but gradually all the vulnerable worn parts have been replaced or repaired, so life is pretty quiet these days.
The flat in London was a different story as there were often leaks from the flat upstairs, although even those were quickly resolved.
I hope you get your problems sorted soon, although it sounds like an issue on a grand scale.
After much cussing from the plumber, the drains are fixed! Yaaay!

Obviously, cussing was what was needed!
Cussing = magical chanting ;)
Thank you, how lovely 😊 By the way, we have the same kitchen cupboard fronts!
