Back Pain… Ouch! Why You Should Never Defrost A Freezer
Back Pain? Speaking from experience I cannot emphasize the importance of following the rules suggested by medical experts to protect your back. Over four years ago, I fractured my spine in two places after making a dodgy lift defrosting the freezer, and, have suffered ever since having to learn to walk again, so badly damaged was my spine I’m now classed disabled.
Enough about me!
While several causes for back pain are common, others are not and there because of something sinister. To reduce risk of a back injury or spinal damage you need to be sensible. If something looks heavy to pick up, it probably is, so avoid the lift. Most injuries are a result of heavy lifting and bending.
Pressure on the back will eventually weaken the spine so make sure to endorse a sensible approach to a task involving the back.
Generally, most back pain is the result of a sudden jerk, and pain should soothe within 72 hours, however if it remains see a doctor. Do not hesitate to get medical help if pain continues in bed, especially if it radiates down the lower limbs reaching further than the knee.
The back is supported by muscles and if these weaken injury is a lot more likely. Exercising the muscles will significantly help to reduce the risk of harm.
If you’re to lift a heavy object get a firm grasp. Hold the object close rather than reach to make the lift.
A solid foundation of support is essential for different sorts of lift. Stance that can help guarantee a safe lift is when both feet are shoulder width apart.
Back needs to be straight during the crouch and bend which will allow the spine to stay in place. Do a dummy run before the actual lift happens?
Tighten stomach muscles before lifting, it decreases pressure on the spine. Legs are strong limbs so let them do the work. Slowly, lower the knees, not your back.
If the object your moving is awkward to hold don’t make the lift.
Use a safety belt or back support to maintain a safe posture.
Look towards the objects destination. If a turn is to happen take small steps and go with the turn.
Tip: Buy a self-defrosting freezer

I completely agree and sympathize about back pain. I have two degenerative discs in my back that from time to time make it impossible to walk! Taking care of your back is so important. BTW, I am a curator with @ocd and would love to nominate your post!

I broke my back horseriding aged 14. Its never been the same. I do lots of yoga and weekly visits to the chiropractor to keep myself mobile. People just dont realise how much we use our backs for pretty much everything!
So sorry to hear this @donnaincancun I don't think anyone can imagine the pain involved with a back injury. I wish I could do yoga but sadly can't. I know its said there is no such thing as the word can't, but I cannot help believe those that said this surely never had a serious back injury. Thank you for commenting and may your back get stronger Take car
Back pain is the worst. I struggle with buldging discs regularly. I just brought a Nubax machine to help stretch my back daily and avoid future pain.
So far so good but like anything consistency is required. I've missed the last few days and j can feel the pressure comiing back so back to the machine it is.
Best of luck with your back and steemit!
Thank you @insideoutlet its good to hear the Nubax machine is helping. I think no matter what one does after a back injury we have to learn to cope with the problem and manage the pain, because once the damage is done and the back has weakened we are always going to feel the slightest twinge. These small twinges are something we would normally brush off, but after experiencing back pain to the degree some of us have had, then we grow fearful of them. Thank you for your feedback and take care
Thank you for sharing useful information, back pain is a common problem for me, I think it has something to do with my work. I don’t know how I would manage without a back support belt, because it helps me get rid of this discomfort when I am at work. By the way, I can also recommend you a helpful article https://www.allblogthings.com/2023/04/back-support-belt-in-the-workplace-how-it-prevents-back-injuries.html which details talks about using a back support belt during hard work.
