How Our Trip To Sigiriya Finally Ended!

It had been some time since we went on our last road trip, so we decided to go for another. Our friend Supun's wedding also fell on a Monday, so our initial plan was to go on a trip and on the last day participate in his wedding. The reception was to be held in Kegalle, so we planned to visit closer to Kegalle.

We prepared the plan to come to Kegalle on Sunday evening so we could visit the wedding from there. Our first-day plan was to cover Dambulla and then Pidurangala. The second-day plan was to visit Sigiriya and then come to Kegalla. There we had plans to watch elephants.

We early booked the hotels to stay, the first-day hotel was Hotel Sigiriya which has an amazing view of Sigiriya. For the second day, we booked Elephant Bay hotel which is located in front of Maha Oya where elephants from the elephant orphanage come for a bath.

In a situation where everything was all set for the trip, Harith started to fall in fever and cough, so two days before the trip, he had to take medicine. I had no symptoms until the day of the trip morning!

Even with slight symptoms, we started our trip and there was no significant difficulty felt on the way.

We started climbing Dambulla temple and that's where we both started to feel something was terrible. After climbing a few steps, we felt extreme tiredness. But with all the pains, we climbed Dambulla and even Pidurangala!

On the same night, I caught a fever and it was a very difficult moment. The fever wasn't controlled even with Panadol.

The next morning, we went to a doctor in Dambulla and had medicine, and things became slightly controlled. We managed to visit Sigiriya and came to the next hotel.

Things became so difficult that evening also. Other than the fever, I got a cough and Harith's cough also became worse. As we were both very sick and it could be a threat to the wedding, we decided not to go to the wedding. The next morning, we watched elephants and turned back to come home. We had to rest for three more days to recover from the fever!

Even though things didn't go well as we planned, still, we could cover the places we were planning to go.
