in #life7 years ago

What does it really mean to be organized? If we don’t plan things beforehand or if we don’t set an aim for the day, are we being unproductive and disorganized? Maybe the answer to this simple question lies in this simple quote by some wise:

“For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.”
You are not only being more efficient by organizing your thoughts and aims but you’re also saving a lot of your time and understanding on the way what it is that you really want. There are many ways to stay focused towards achieving your aims and analyzing every day what you have learned, one of the most effective ways is to set goals for every day or every week in the morning and think about what you’ve achieved that day at the end of it. Organizing yourself according to your plans and aims increases the productivity level and allows you to be more efficient.

Following are some tips that have helped me in staying organized and collecting my thoughts throughout the day, letting me achieve clarity towards my dreams. Try them out and let us know how beneficial they are to you!

Know that the right time to get something done is NOW!
One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we have the whole day or the whole week or even a whole month to get something on our list done. The truth is that we never the whole day because life is uncertain and we never know what the next second holds for us. A lot of us wait until the last second or the deadline to actually get something done! You will find that successful people are mostly not procrastinators and have their priorities set.
You can simply make a notebook for yourself and start your day by writing down the tasks of the day with time frame allotted to each task. Remember that the ideal way to get all the tasks done is to set a time limit for each so that you know exactly how much time you have in your hands.

Take a break!
Actually, not just a break, taking several short breaks during a day is not a bad idea! A human mind works wonder when it gets deep into something but it also needs to release some stress through these short breaks in which the mind can relax and be more productive. However, make sure that these breaks are not too long and the mind doesn’t get diverted towards other distractions.
So to let your brain function efficiently, note down the number of breaks as well as the time for each break in your notebook as well. It will help you stay organized.

Set your priorities Straight:
Sit back at the end of the day and think about what it is that you need to focus on in your life at the moment. It is very important to know your priorities so that you can divide your time smartly. For example, if you have three tasks to get done in a day, you must know beforehand that what task needs to be given more time and what doesn’t need much time at the moment. You can list down your priorities from top to bottom indicating the importance of each task. Open up that list every once in a while so that you stay on the track and don’t get distracted. It will also help you in choosing to say no when you have to.
According to Steve Jobs:
”If you don’t set priorities for yourself, Life will live you, not the other way around. “

Take enough Sleep:
You must be thinking what sleep has to do with self-organization. Well, let’s put it this way; one can’t focus and stay productive for long without taking enough sleep, that is, at least 6 7 hours a day. A lot of people compromise on their sleep and end up getting used to of sleeping very few hours a day. This may seem productive at that moment but In the long run, it drains you out mentally and you will start experiencing distractions, mood swings and forgetting things very often. So in your notebook, remember to keep at least 6 to 7 hours a day for bed and the rest of it for other things.

Spend some time with nature:
Though that may sound unnecessary to many people, to be honest, this is something I have benefitted from the most! with such competition all around, we all are chained in hectic routines that often down allow us to be on our own for some time. We are constantly surrounded by people, getting work done and dealing with different kind of people all day. This often drains us out and makes us lose all the focus as well as forget about everything else that is important and that needs to be taken care of. The ideal thing to do at such moments is to go out somewhere in the fresh air and take some deep breaths, look around and appreciate the little details around you. Have fresh juice and then open up your notebook to take a look at it again. Start fresh!

Great post. Thanks for the cogent tips shared.

Yes, this advice will improve anybody, but it is important we learn to work with constraints and not motivation. That is the difference between a professional and a novice

Wow thanks so much for this write-up it really taught me alot m.. Thanks so much..bless up

excellent reflection, very good post!by the way I follow you, you have my support, although I am new

So much yes to all of these. Except for the getting enough sleep (which I would like to do, unfortunately I have periods where I have difficulty sleeping and am in one currently) I miss one of these steps and I'm a mess! I keep my to do list open and visible at all times, I have tried to maximize my productivity by using my short breaks to do things such as making phone calls or checking Steemit. I review my list every morning and every night, set three to five main priorities for the day and as long as I get those things done I don't feel dissuaded or anxious if I get a random 'Lets go on an adventure' call.

I have 1,000,000% found organizing myself to be life changing, even as far as boosting my self-confidence. I fully recommend everyone give this list a try for a couple of weeks and see how you feel!

Actually if you don't have a possibility to spend time with nature- sitting in silence also helps! At least for me...I also realised that doing sports get you more energy and after the training you to do list in the head makes much more sense!
